Springfield Civic Association elects new officers

Several incumbents, including President Brent Mickum and 1st Vice-President Cynthia Green, were reelected by members of the Springfield Civic Association last night. In contested races, Steve Schultz was reelected as 2nd Vice-President, and new officers Carol Anderson and Michael Robinson were elected Secretary and Newsletter Chair, respectively.

There were competing amendments for each of two proposed updates to the association's bylaws on the ballot. However, none received the required majority to pass.

  2. 5:18: I don't recall electioneering for the SCA races last year. I simply reported the results. The only attorney elected last year was Brent Mickum, and "what happened" is that he apparently had a successful year, as he was unopposed in the election.

Shame broadcastify discontinued MoCo Police - the 911 of Dyer taking pics of PedoBear's junk at 3am would of been priceless!

  5. 3:52: Actually, the real question is, why is Montgomery County blocking us from hearing police communications on Broadcastify - this has been going on for weeks. When crime gets bad, cut off information about the totality of crime occurring?

  6. Per Broadcastify...

"All of the scanner feeds on Broadcastify.com are provided by volunteers, each one using their own computer and scanner radio.

There is nothing we can do re this matter. This is a feed owner issue and not a Broadcastify issue. If a feed is offline for 21 days it will automatically be deleted from our catalog."

Since MC Fire and Rescue is broadcast is doesn't seem like a county issue.

You or one of your minions could always volunteer...

  7. In speaking with some law enforcement friends, it seems many police departments across the nation aren't broadcasting their police calls anymore.
    To avoid ambushes.

Fire/EMS use volunteers and therefore continue to broadcast.

  8. 5:41: That's an accountability problem. They have alternate channels to discuss sensitive operations.

  9. An accountability problem? Nope. You are wrong.
Do like I did and actually TALK to those involved, don't just assume. They'll tell you it's especially important with sensitive operations.
