Montgomery County is under a winter weather advisory from the National Weather Service. Winter Storm Harper is expected to arrive by mid-afternoon, beginning with showers that will convert to heavy rain by nightfall, continuing overnight through Sunday morning.
A flash freeze is predicted to occur between 1:00 and 3:00 PM Sunday afternoon, creating treacherous conditions on roads. Gusty winds will build up starting Sunday morning, peaking around 22 MPH by midday, with gusts up to 28 MPH possible. By Sunday night, temperatures will be around 12 degrees, but wind chills will make it feel like an even more brutal -11 degrees.
The projected temperatures during the precipitation make any significant accumulation of snow unlikely over the next 48 hours. Wet roads and sidewalks freezing on Sunday, as well as possible flooding tonight, will be the primary dangers of Winter Storm Harper.

ReplyDeleteThat's just awkward, Dude.
Only the weather channel names snow storms. It isn’t accepted in the weather community as normal.
ReplyDeleteDid The Weather Channel (not cited) name this storm after Mama Harper on The Carol Burnett Show/Mama's Family? Because that would be awesome.

ReplyDeleteSo far, you and the SNN Storm Center are the only ones who believes this to be true of Bethesda, MD. Because of the high winds of low humidity air, the streets and sidewalks should be cleared of freezable water, and no "flash freeze" is expected.
4:02: The path and timing of the storm changed since this report 24 hours ago - as have forecasters' predictions. Use common sense, and stop spending your life trolling my website.

ReplyDeleteLegitimate weather sites provide updates more often than once a day.
6:08: Shut up, moron.
ReplyDeleteI think Dyer must drink a lot during weekends, since he calls people morons and threatens to body-slam them through a coffee table much more often during the weekends. Also the empty threats for years to report a commenter to the FBI, and that the commmenter will be doing hard time.. for commenting on Dyer's blog.
ReplyDeleteSublimation is the conversion between the solid and the gaseous phases of matter, with no intermediate liquid stage. For those of us interested in the water cycle, sublimation is most often used to describe the process of snow and ice changing into water vapor in the air without first melting into water.
