Marriott announces changes ahead at HQ construction site in Bethesda
The development partners of the relocated Marriott International headquarters in downtown Bethesda say they will be making a few changes at the construction site in the near future. In response to complaints about nighttime and lunchtime work, they plan to reduce construction activity around the site between 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM. They also intend to try to keep construction hours within the 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM range, with traffic control operations beginning at 6:00 AM.
These new hours are scheduled to go into effect on March 25, if approved by Montgomery County. Another change in the coming weeks will be the relocation of the ramp into the construction site from Wisconsin Avenue to the Woodmont Avenue side of the property. With woefully-moribund Montgomery County unable to attract a single new major corporate headquarters in two decades, we have to at least appreciate Marriott sliding their deck chair down the Titanic from Rock Spring to downtown Bethesda. Beggars can't be choosers!
