Fascino closes at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda

Well, that was fast. Fascino lasted an entire two months in its new location on Level 2 at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. The Italian men's apparel boutique managed to almost survive for one year at the mall, if you include their time on Level 1 between last May and the end of January. This is just the latest store closure in a County plastered with "Going Out of Business!" signs. Meanwhile our clueless elected officials spend their time weighing in on national politics, verbally trashing our police department, and proclaiming the county with the biggest spike in sexually-transmitted diseases in the state is "the healthiest county in Maryland."

Montgomery County has suffered a net loss of over 2100 retail jobs since 2000, according to the Maryland Retailers Association, and just received another disastrous jobs report as MoCo remains rock bottom for economic development in the region by all standard measures. In short, this is a tough place to do business, with our notoriously anti-business County Council.

    Nothing about Invisalign?

Nothing about the big big big retail news at both Congressional Plaza and Montrose Crossing?

    1. Invisalign was sued by Smile Direct Club and forced to close all 12 of its stores. Has absolutely nothing to do with the County Council

The only thing Dyer has ever "inspired" is hysterical laughter.

I don't remember anyone blogging or writing about Montgomery Mall stores opening and closing pre-Dyer.

10:44am wow..that's a harsh way to describe the Councilmembers touring Bethesda from inside their charter Ride On bus.

      Really bad language.

1:13 PM Several outlets (legacy media and bloggers) got the Sears closing date wrong by a year...they didn't talk with a live, human being.

Dyer broke the story on the real closing date!

2:10 PM Yup- Sears was livid with the false report that others filed. Dyer got it right!

Robert also had the emotional final sign off by Sears employees. Real, live people!

Support this man and his enterprising local journalism.
