The construction wall in front of Hawkers Asian Street Fare on Bethesda Lane came down yesterday. It's unclear why, as work on the interior is not close to finished yet. But you can see some structures taking shape for the individual food hall-style vendor areas.
Perhaps Hawkers is also building a more elaborate outdoor dining area, that extends out to match the new front edge of the new furniture store. The outdoor dining at Redwood was always very haphazard, so maybe grouping it all on one side, near the restaurant makes sense. Perhaps a nice deep shade structure or pergola over the outside dining.
ReplyDeleteFrom your images, it looks like lots of new operable folding glass doors are now in place. This will nice to open up even the interior to some fresh air, when weather permits. I’m surprised more restaurants have not quickly installed more operable windows to get customers more comfortable dining inside during the pandemic. I also predict we will see lots of patio heaters this fall and early winter, again to get more alfresco dining.
What do you think of the new brightly colored pavilions and picnic tables on Woodmont? Is this a Federal Realty or a Bethesda UP endeavor? It does make the street more festive, and the heavy picnic tables are not easily moved into groups like the former lightweight tables and chairs, so social distancing can be maintained.
I plan to never eat at a restaurant again. All these losers are going to lose everything, the WORLD HAS CHANGED.
