Montgomery County police deployed in force to every block of Friendship Heights again overnight, and near major retail centers in downtown Bethesda, as tensions across the border in Washington, D.C. remained high after the police-involved death of Karon Hylton. At least six police cruisers were stationed in Friendship Heights Thursday night into early this morning.
Another protest was held in the District last night, and some amount of body cam footage from Metropolitan Police Department officers involved in the incident had been expected to be made public. The protest did not turn into a riot this time, and there appeared to be no looting threat on our side of the line as of early this morning.

Hylton was operating a moped when, his family and others say, police began to chase him against departmental pursuit policies. He was fatally injured in a collision that many residents say was caused by the alleged police pursuit. Protests Wednesday night led to the damage and attempted looting of Saks Fifth Avenue on the Maryland side in Chevy Chase. Hylton's death, and violence at the protests that followed, have made national headlines in recent days.
What a disgrace this is. This could easily happen to your home or business, with your family in it. If you don't already legally own and/or carry a gun to protect yourself and the people you care about, you need to ask yourself why that is....
ReplyDeleteThe police won't necessarily be there when you need them. There's no guarantee that they're coming to help you. If Trump wins this thing, you will see rioting and looting like you've never seen before and they could be overwhelmed with service calls.
One of the best decisions I've ever made was purchasing a handgun, a good supply of ammo in bulk, insurance from USCCA/CCWSafe and taking private lessons from an NRA-qualified instructor. I don't want to be a hero. I refuse to be a victim and I won't let the current lawlessness and anarchy affect me or the people I care about.
5:38 - I agree 100%, and support your position and your decision to purchase firearm. Let me ask a question if I may. Are you a Maryland resident or dc? Because the crazy thing is law abiding citizens can't get approved for a carry permit and that's outta m out outrageous
DeleteI really must take issue with your non sequitur argument. The Federalist recently published an article that argued, convincingly, that giving rioters and looters what they want (defeat Trump) will only embolden them and exacerbate the situation. Leading to more rioting and looting to achieve their next goal: overthrow the US Constitutional system. Furthermore, if Biden and the Left get into power, one of their primary goals will be to strip your Second Amendment rights. You will then be left defenseless. I own guns and am more than willing to use them if necessary. That's why I will vote Trump. Why should I change my vote under duress?
ReplyDeleteAll good reasons not to re-elect Trump. He's made the U.S. and the world much less safe. More guns, more bullets, more tanks, more bazookas, more jet-fighters, more explosives, more nukes, more advanced weapons, and more nationalist, racist, authoritarian rhetoric don't make anyone safer. Time for a change!
ReplyDeleteInquisitor, you are painfully misinformed.
ReplyDelete@4:00: Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. I'm voting for Trump... and so was everyone I was standing in line with at the Range on Saturday.
