More "coming soon" signage for Spanish Diner at Bethesda Row
More signs of the impending arrival of Jose Andres' Spanish Diner at Bethesda Row have appeared. Window screens tout the breakfast-lunch-dinner concept, which is expected to open in the spring of 2021.
Seems like a good time to stay closed and remodel interior dining spaces. I’m surprised more restaurants aren’t taking this opportunity to refresh or remodel while things are slow, and time your reopening for spring. Maybe invest in more operable storefronts, exterior seating, HVAC upgrades and banquet dividers. In the mean time, optimize for carry-out service, with simplified menus. I know it’s tough to spend money when revenues are reduced, but that’s what loans are for. Time to think of the long game, or just pull the plug and do something else to make a living.
