Marriott hotel interior construction scheduled to begin next month


The exteriors of the future Marriott International headquarters offices and hotel at 7750 Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Bethesda are looking more complete every week. Now it's time to start work on the interior of the hotel building. Development partners Boston Properties and The Bernstein Companies announced yesterday that the interior fit-out of the hotel will begin next month. Alexandria-based rand* construction is the contractor for the hotel interior fit-out, they confirmed.


This week, a construction hoist will be removed from the building exterior. Hardscape work is underway on Woodmont and Norfolk Avenues near Tastee Diner. A new crosswalk will be installed near Bethesda Place to extend across to the Woodmont Corner parking garage that Marriott employees will take over during business hours.

    Should be a great addition to the downtown core with a F&B option.

    Any word about the apparent accident at the Hyatt. I walked by this morning and noticed that it looks like a vehicle on southbound Wisconsin hopped the curb and crashed into the side of the new glass canopy at the hotel drop off. Three flagpoles were sheared off and several crashed into the glass canopy, shatter the laminated glass. The metal clad columns holding up the canopy are ripped to shreds. It’s lucky no one was injured.

    It’s pretty cool to have the headquarters of the worlds largest hotelier in downtown Bethesda. I bet the addition of several thousand employees will help transform the Woodmont Triangle into a much more dynamic neighborhood, and encourage other development.

    It will be interesting to see how much more ridership is generated at the Bethesda Metro Station once the pandemic subsides. Combined with the new Wilson and Avocet office towers we should see many more transit commuters. With all the new multi-family housing towers going up, plus the new Marriott Flagship and AC Hotels, residential and hotel guest Metro ridership should increase as well. Once the south entrance to the Metro is opened, the transit walk-shed in Bethesda will extend a few more blocks to the south, not to mention future Purple Line and CCT users.

    @8:36AM I've tried to get information about it but to no avail. It seems "no one is talking." The damage is quite obvious as I walk by daily. I noticed skid marks on the sidewalk possibly from a big truck...
