Montgomery County Council under fire for Thin Blue Line flag tweet

The Montgomery County Council is coming under fire from some of its constituents after its Twitter account posted the Thin Blue Line flag at 8:30 AM this morning, to recognize National Police Week. Critics "ratioed" the tweet, demanding it be retracted. By 9:25 AM, the Montgomery County Council Twitter account was taken entirely offline. When the Twitter account reappeared, the Thin Blue Line tweet was conspicuously missing.

The Montgomery County Council's Twitter account
was briefly taken down, and the Thin Blue Line tweet
deleted without explanation

While the Thin Blue Line flag is very popular among many as a symbol of solidarity with law enforcement in the county and nationwide, the all-Democrat Council's use of it could be termed a gaffe in an ultra-progressive jurisdiction like Montgomery County. County residents responding angrily to the Council's tweet this morning described the flag as a desecration of the American flag, a symbol of white supremacy, and offensive, among other negative connotations. Here is a sampling of reactions captured before the Council took down the tweet:

The same bitter progressives who call police when neighbors are being loud, when they have a break in or their car stolen
Some crazy leftist in my neighbor hood called the police as our car was 2 inches over the driveway into the sidewalk

Leftist loon couldn’t walk 2 inches and called police

Criminals should see these BLM/Biden/Defund the Police types as easy targets. They're the ones with the handgun bumper sticker with the red circle & line through it. They reap what they sow.

1:36 calling other people "crazy" after that wonky ramble is pretty funny. Anyways, people took issue w/the inclusion of a symbol that's associated w/white supremacy. They didn't take issue with the substance of the tweet.
