Construction of a new residential building at 7000 Wisconsin Avenue is scheduled to commence this morning at 9:00 AM, July 23, 2021. Contractor CBG Building Company has received permission from the Maryland State Highway Administration to close the right southbound lane and sidewalk in the project zone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until completion of the project in September 2023.
Pedestrians will be forced to cross Wisconsin at Woodmont Avenue or Stanford Street to detour around the work zone.
That should do wonders to improve traffic along there. Cars will be stacked up to Frederick.
ReplyDeleteThe folks that live at the Adagio are going to feel even mor isolated from downtown Bethesda for a few years. Maybe a covered sidewalk will be added once the demo and excavation are done, but with Wisconsin being the only street access for construction, this seems unlikely.
ReplyDeleteIt will be a messy and noisy process, with reduced lanes on Wisconsin, but it will be nice project when completed, and add some residential density and improved retail only a few block south of the new Metro entrance and Purple Line station under construction.
