Potomac auto theft suspects caught on camera (Video+Photos)

Montgomery County police have released video of suspects in the recent wave of auto thefts in Potomac. The individuals are seen wearing surgical gloves and masks, and testing door handles of vehicles to see if they are unlocked. Interestingly, the vehicle they are shown using to navigate Potomac neighborhoods is similar to that described as the suspects' getaway car in the recent armed carjacking in the Landon Woods area.

Anyone with information regarding these suspects is asked to call the 1st District Investigative Section at 240-773-6084 or the Crime Solvers Tip line 1-866-411-TIPS(8477). Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477), or submit a Crime Solvers tip online or via the app. Crime Solvers may pay a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest in this case.

Looks like they are driving a Honda Civic Hatchback. 2017-2020 model... maybe.

Democrats will look at each other wondering why because power and ideology is everything while we little people are subjects.

Stop leaving key fobs in your cars, people. This is not rocket science.

It's not the key fobs in the cars but within proximity of a scanner able to clone the signal.

Appears to be a late model Mazda CX3

What @7:06 said. The tech exists to clone key-fob codes simply by being proximal to them. Even leaving the fobs near doors or windows is close enough for thieves to copy the unique code, apparently.

As for comments about police not doing enough, what would you propose, other than having cops at every intersection, manning check points to confirm each driver passing is authorized to use the car they pilot. Seems like a pretty heavy-handed governmental intrusion into the lives of regular people who *aren't* car thieves, having to prove they aren't criminals every time they leave the house.

@10:53 AM: Here's what you do. You lock these criminals up for 20 years. They do not get out for good behavior. Their friends can visit them in prison. You make an example of them for their friends and indicate that anyone who copycats is subject to the same punishment and will join them in prison. The punishment needs to be so severe that everyone knows that this isn't a crime they should even consider doing. I pay my taxes and follow all the laws. None of these crooks will get an ounce of empathy from me.

    Answer me this:

Who in their lives failed these now-criminals, and why did that failure occur? These criminals weren't born that way, but they were raised in and exposed to behaviors which encouraged and tolerated this criminal activity.

The answer is uncomfortable if you're honest about it.

12:34: BS, people don't have to be slaves to their disadvantages. It is drummed into
them by the media. Plenty of poor disadvantaged folk do not turn to thievery.

Curious that "Bethesda Beat" had not reported this. It must not comport with policy.

This is a generation of criminals produced by Democrats & liberals who have decided that their power is more important than educating young people. Charter schools outperform public schools yet the teachers union fights proficiency tests for their own members so bad teachers can get the same tenure as the good ones.

Then you have another Democrat removing the Reading/Writing/Mathematics requirements for graduation because of racism. This is another Democrat ruining future generations of kids that we'll all have to deal with.

    Yeah, Democrats own this.

Can't imagine why you will not post my comment, the point of which is an important one: that wokeism carries serious deleterious consequences. You seem quite beholden to the woke for someone who holds himself out as a conservative.

Democrats own two generations of declining crime rates? Uh, okay. We'll also take credit for the two generations of declining teen pregnancy rates, increasing college graduation rates, etc. if you insist.

Love how Democrat apologists want to take credit for things that, left up to them would resemble Cuba or Venezuela. Then they run away from the fact they're responsible for the decline of the black family unit by hooking them to the drug of entitlements instead of giving them an opportunity to succeed.

Now these same liberals are crushing minorities through the soft bigotry of low expectations.
