Power was cut to some homes in Kenwood in Chevy Chase after a tree fell, knocking down power lines and damaging a utility pole. The tree fell in the 5300 block of Chamberlin Avenue, near Brookside Drive, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson Pete Piringer. Pepco estimates a restoration time of 1:00 PM for some Kenwood customers, and as late as 5:00 AM tomorrow for others.
Heavy rain fell on the area for many hours overnight, and this morning, which can create soil conditions conducive to trees falling. Chamberlin Avenue is currently closed in the affected area.
