Koons Lincoln dealership coming to downtown Bethesda

Downtown Bethesda continues to hold its place in American car culture history as a mecca for auto dealerships. Coming soon will be Koons Lincoln, at 7315 Wisconsin Avenue. You may have noticed a lot of work going on at the front of the Bethesda Crossing building in recent months. Now if Lincoln will just bring back its flagship Town Car, it could be like old times again.

Nice to see something on that facade, but its somehow ironic to dealership selling $71,000, 9 passenger internal combustion engine SUV’s that get 14 MPG, usually driven by a single person, across the street from a heavy rail, a light rail station, a future BRT station and the CCT. Perhaps not the best fit so close to transit.

I noticed the former bank building nearby now has a building permit in the window, for the construction of an urban format CVS drugstore. That seems to make so much more sense.

@5:38 AM: ICYMI, "Lincoln Going Full EV by 2030, Starting with an Electric SUV in 2022": (https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a36728998/lincoln-future-electric-vehicle-plans-revealed/)

More info here: Four Electric Vehicles, beginning with the first in 2022: https://www.motortrend.com/news/lincoln-ev-future/

Lincoln also currently sells three Plug-In Hybrids (https://www.lincoln.com/plug-in-hybrid-electric-vehicles/) which get better mileage than what you said.

Per the executives quoted in this article, Lincoln plans to make an Electric Lincoln Navigator and says to stay tuned: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-08-18/ford-updates-cash-cow-navigator-suv-while-leaving-it-unplugged

I think this location is great for a car dealership. It'll bring substantial business into the Downtown Area.
