Here's a look at the latest progress inside the new Trader Joe's grocery store at 7900 Wisconsin Avenue, in the 8001 Woodmont development. Walls and pillars have gotten a coat of powder blue paint since my last update on October 24. Some checkout and scanning electronics are now in place.
More overhead lighting has also been installed and activated. Point-of-sale and other retail electronic equipment from NCR Global can be seen in shipping boxes sent from Mexico. The existing Trader Joe's store at 6831 Wisconsin Avenue remains open for business.
Powder blue and knotty pine, with 2 x 4 fluorescent lights, how classy! Sort of like an extra bedroom in your grandmothers basement. I get that they try to reflect an interior design that focuses on value above style, but they could step up their design aesthetic a bit. 2 x 4 lay-in acoustical ceilings, really?
ReplyDeleteHave they ever visited modern urban format market, like an Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods, with slick black shelves, great graphics and signage, exposed painted mechanical systems with very tall ceilings and sleek LED lighting? Even the Giant in Bethesda looks better that this brand new Trader Joe’s.
Taste is only in the eyes of the beholder.
Delete@5:50 AM: I'm there for the food, not the mood lighting. The Amazon Fresh looks like a cold institutional warehouse with no character at all.
