7316 Wisconsin Avenue demolition update (Photos)

Interior demolition of the former office building at 7316 Wisconsin Avenue is advancing at a steady pace. You can now see even more into the empty floors of the building, as more sections of the outer walls have been removed. The building is coming down to make way for B.F. Saul's Hampden House project.

Hopefully this new building also makes it less moribund on that block with some ground level retail.

Nice photos! It looks like a very surgical and methodical demolition, likely because of the adjacency to the new Red Line elevator shaft and tunnel also still under construction.

I see that the Hampden Cafe recently closed in preparation for the construction of the large new lobby, meeting center and fitness center at 4800 Hampden Lane that is adjacent to the Hampden House. They also propose to paint the brick on that tower an off-white color, and add some glass fins on the corners facing the enlarged plaza. The entire block will be transformed in a few years.

4800 Hampden Lane (One Bethesda Center) lost one of their major tenants recently. Boston Consulting Group is relocating to a 98,000 square foot space at Metropolitan Square in DC.
