Bethesda Trader Joe's declared one of 10 best in America

Eating Well
magazine has published a list of the top ten Trader Joe's grocery stores in America, and Bethesda made the list. The store's employees told the magazine that one thing they think is special about the Bethesda location is that it's "the most multilingual" in the chain, with workers and customers speaking the largest variety of languages. No mention of the parking garage in the article, though... Trader Joe's is located at 6831 Wisconsin Avenue, in the Shops of Wisconsin.

Save this story for 4/1/22. Seriously?

  2. It seems most Trader Joe's have parking issues. I wonder what challenges the garage at the new Bethesda location will present.

Seriously find this hard to believe. I shopped at the original TJ in Pasadena, CA for years. I had to adjust my expectations when I moved to Bethesda. The lack of the trademark TJ customer service and engagement at Bethesda was really noticeable. Then there was the time I bought and ate moldy beef jerky. When I took the bag back to TJ, the manager explained mold wasn't necessarily a bad thing in food...

The beef jerky grew mold because it had been slashed open with a box cutter. I also bought cartons of ice cream that had been slashed. Still happened even after I pointed it out to management. I stopped buying ice cream from the store for years.

As a Californian, I'm always going to shop at TJ but in the case of the Bethesda location, it's basically "in the land of the blind, the one eye is king."

I have a hard time believing this. This is the most crowded, difficult TJ's to shop at. Parking not much better. Learning

I used to live by the original TJs in Pasadena. The only non-California one I've been to that was close was the one in Santa Fe. It even has adequate parking, though I didn't need it.

I agree with the other posters re: how is the Bethesda TJs considered one of the best in the country?!? It's nice to have one in the neighborhood, and the staff are nice, but the store is very small and limited in its stock. Compare even to the store in Rockville.

I recall a documentary about TJs on PBS from a few years ago. I was shocked to see how huge the stores in California and other parts of the country are and how diverse and comprehensive their inventories are.

There probably will be upgrades and improvements when the store moves to Wisconsin Ave.
