The demolition of the office building at 7316 Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda continues methodically. Now, the adjacent two-story portion of 4800 Hampden Lane is also coming down. Both are being removed to clear the way for B.F. Saul's Hampden House development.
Thanks for the update photos.
ReplyDeleteThe two story portion and clock tower of 4800 Hampden Lane are indeed being demolished, but the taller office portion and condo’s of 4800 Hampden Lane are not being removed. The owners of that portion sold some of its underground parking and all of its unused development rights to BF Saul for Hampden House. This substantially reduces the size of BF Saul’s BOZ density payment. The remaining 4800 Hampden Lane office building owners apparently are using the proceeds of this sale to renovate their building, adding a fitness and conference center, and a new glass lobby facing the soon to be renovated shared plaza. They also propose to paint the existing red brick an off-white color. Not sure if that includes the condo portion on Woodmont.
