Bethesda construction update: Solaire 7607 Old Georgetown Road (Photos)

The excavation continues at the site of the future Solaire 7607 Old Georgetown Road apartment tower in downtown Bethesda. To indicate how much deeper the hole is, there were two ladder platform levels leading up to the street level in my March 17 update; now there are three ladder levels to scale.  Developed by Washington Property Company, the Solaire will house 198 units and 1500 square feet of retail, and is scheduled for delivery in late 2023.

Reminds me how deep the parking lot was behind Gino's, right behind that pit on Wisconsin avenue. Trying to drive out was like a space launch, the nose of the car pointed almost straight up, it seemed.

Funny the things that stick in one's mind.

No wonder the county is adding more bike lanes everywhere. The cars won't be able to move with all these new residents/businesses which is the grand master plan no doubt.

Yes, of course people who live in dense areas don't want to waste their lives sitting in cars. Great observation, Einstein.

4:32 - The entire area is not dense moron. The people living in downtown condos don't want to drive or have cars. The rest of us do. Great oversight Einstein.

Hey, hey, hey -- easy, folks. Why the names, the antipathy?

@ 5:49 AM - Why should we subsidize your car-dependent lifestyle?

  6. Friends, let's try to avoid the name-calling and stick to debating points for a civil discussion.

    "The rest of us do."

No one is talking about you and your car-dependence. We're talking about "all these new residents." My neighborhood - soon to welcome these new neighbors - doesn't exist for the purpose of you driving through it. Your opinion on our bike lanes is irrelevant.

Watch out folks, the enviros are angry. Those dastardly people in cars dropping off kids, grocery shopping, doing errands and the like in our downtown Bethesda, no automobile, Utopia. How dare they.
