First look: Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda (Photos)

Here's a sneak peek at our first glimpse of Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. As you can see, the pizza parlor looks nearly ready to open. Pepe's will also have indoor corridor seating and outdoor patio space. The pizzeria's opening is one of the most-anticipated restaurant debuts of 2022.

I glanced over there while heading to Home Depot today and noticed they are making progress indeed. I don't think their indoor corridor is for me and the patio doesn't seem that attractive either. But with the county finally pulling our masks off, the regular indoor dining experience will be just fine. This will be big indeed for this area and a huge win over DC and NOVA. Frank Pepe is arguably the best pizza in the United States.

Google pix of their pies look enticing, but --wow!-- are they expensive. A large pie with mushrooms and onions comes to more than 34 after tax.

PS: @10:36, the best pizza in the United States is My Little Pizzeria, on Court Street near State Street in Brooklyn.

1:28 - I'm familiar with My Little Pizzeria. But Frank Pepe is at the very top if not the top. It's not just me saying that. Look it up.

@1:28 -- Them's fighin' words. Some of Pepe's luster dulls when the price is factored in. I lived around the corner from MLP for 30+ years, but I also gobbled FP occasionally, in Danbury. The latter is top notch, no question, but dollar for dollar, MLP will always be ne plus ultra in my book, especially when Ami or Benji made them.

Either way, FP in Bethesda will be about seventeen steps above any other pizza in the DC area.

10:18 - We agree on the steps above. And I would argue steps above many in the entire nation.
No question about it that we are lucky over DC and NOVA to land this place and especially have them continue when Covid smacked down food service. The price tag will make folks pause but you get what you pay for. I can't remember how much John's on Bleeker or Lombardi's cost but of course that's NYC prices. Still, it's worth every dollar. This is a huge addition to the area.
