Assault at Montgomery Mall
Montgomery County police were called to Westfield Montgomery Mall Saturday evening, after a 2nd-degree assault was reported there. The assault was reported at the mall at 6:07 PM, according to crime data.
State of MD will eventually be forced to get out of the way of Marylanders 2A rights. SCOTUS working on cases which will set precedent. All decent and law abiding citizens must be allowed to carry a firearm if they choose. This crime, in places like ours, will worsen. Time to protect yourselves. Police are still minutes away and often that's too late.
Fact; Crime is up in Bethesda. Elrich had to reinstall SRO's under a different acronym so he won't admit failure. Democrats in MD and DC are releasing criminals that should be locked up.
Then here come the liberal defenders espousing normality of crime and law abiding citizens should just suck it up.
@9:40 Russian troll farm. Scroll through Robert's posts for the past several months and notice the appreciable drop-off in posts of the "leftist dystopia" variety since the Russians invaded Ukraine. Sure, sure -- correlation does not imply causation. But since posters like 3:16 seem altogether untroubled by facts when they scribble their latests screeds, why should any of his opponents, here among the Earth-based community?
When the left has no one to blame but themselves... Russians! Putin! Hows the Mueller investigation going? Not as well as the Durham one but then again your "earth-based community" has buried its head in the sand.
@4:51's answer to a 2nd-degree assault, --the lesser of two assault charges, defined as slapping, punching, spitting on another person intentionally, pushing, hitting, striking another person with an object, using a vehicle to hit another person or another person’s vehicle, biting, choking-- is to pull a gun on the person. A reasonable, proportional response to the threat posed.
"I feared for my life when he shoved me, so I killed him."
9:51 - typical MoCo, nutty Left, anti-gun. The right to protect one's self is an incorporated right, sorry. Some don't like it and that's fine and protected under the First. But don't tread on my Second.
@4:38pm --Not surprisingly, you are wrong again; typical of the more violence-&-vengence-addled portions of the MAGAsphere. Nothing I wrote betrayed apathy or ignorance of the law, despite your saying otherwise. In Maryland, assault in the second degree is a misdemeanor. My concern lies in the state allowing an apparent functional illiterate, someone seemingly unable to do so much as read and correctly transcribe a time stamp, access to walk the streets armed with deadly force and an ill-conceived notion of what constitutes a legitimate, legally defendable threat to one's life --hint: a misdemeanor slap or a shove isn't it. Why should anyone believe a person so profoundly dysfunctional can possibly be trusted to understand the laws governing self-defense and the use of deadly force, much less be trusted to exercise the level head demanded in a confrontation made potentially lethal with the addition of a firearm. If you can’t properly copy a simple sequence of numbers, how can you be trusted to understand when it is legal to shoot and kill? The careless disregard you demonstrate towards the basic functions of reading and writing can only be assumed to convey to other facets of your life, including the proper, legal use of lethal force.
Unfortunately 4:08 PM is blinded by an ideology so skewed that they can't recognize their own absurd argument. While I did author 4:38 PM, and understand where 4:51 AM was saying, your interpretation is a false flag. Liberals who demand everyone disarm or people will be shot for jaywalking fails in every way. Do I need to explain that analogy as well?
Face facts, current liberal ideology is a trainwreck that has punished everyone except those wealthy enough to have private security and a large liquid bank account. I look back at the days when JFK was a Democrat and by that standard stood for something whereas today's liberals are fighting the 1st Amendment amongst others. How far you've fallen.
@4:08 PM: Fortunately that's up the Supreme Court, not you.
Once the Supreme Court issues its ruling in the pending gun case (New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v. Bruen) concerning Conceal Carry in the next couple of months (which I expect will hold that NY's restrictive "May Issue" policy is unconstitutional), MD will also have to become a "Shall Issue" state instead of a "May Issue" state for Conceal Carry. There will be plenty of law-abiding gun owners who go through the required application process, background check and training to legally Conceal Carry in MD. You're just going to have to figure out a way to deal with that reality.
@6:45 -- If you own guns, I hope your firearms targeting is better than your fabulously inaccurate reading comprehension skills, or you'll make quite a name for yourself on police blotters and court dockets. My post @4:08 said nothing explicitly nor suggested anything implicity about "demand[ing] everyone disarm." It addressed 4:51's hunger to respond to a misdemeanor crime --a second-degree assault-- with a firearm. How does it "fail(s) in every way" to express concern at 4:51's apparent desire to resolve with deadly force what the courts view as a less than life-threatening criminal offense? It is a canard, an utter fabrication for you to accuse me of "demand(ing) everyone disarm." Nowhere in any post have I ever suggested such, because I do not believe it. I believe in the Second Amendment. My family has owned guns since long before I was born, more than 50 years ago. That does not mean I condone someone like 4:51, who apparently sees mortal threats at every turn and provocation, being allowed to carry weapons on the street. Is there no minimum standard of discretion, emotional maturity, and responsibility necessary for people to carry firearms in public?
MD will be, as it should, a Shall Issue state just like the vast majority of the others in this country. GA and Gov Kemp was right recently when it passed a carry law without permit. It's the 2A and it cannot be abridged. Don't like it? Move.
8:29 AM Reductio ad absurdum thinking won't win any logical arguments. By "your concern" meaning that liberal group think should be the arbiters of the second amendment.
Frankly I'm more worried about people who fail to understand the rights granted in The Constitution to law abiding citizens while in the same breath defending those with whom the law is simply words on a sheet of paper. Meanwhile liberals, who have guns "for over 50 years", are busy lecturing & denying those who simply want to defend themselves. How convenient...
More guns in the hands of law abiding citizens, not less, saves lives period. This anti-stance is nonsense and not backed up by any data. MD is wrong and always has been on carry laws. They are nearly alone in the entire nation on this. You're a good guy and have no record, you get a permit to carry outside your house that's it. Should you train? Yes. Should you take things seriously? Yes because carrying a firearm is a huge responsibility. But no one and I mean no one can and should stand in the way of a good guy who wants to exercise their 2A right to carry. The Left is scared of this and news flash, we aren't the ones to be afraid of. These people will be vigilantes. These people will run around like they're Dirty Harry. No, wrong. MD will be forced to get onboard with the right to carry and we'll all be safer for it and less.
Who says the Second Amendment can't be abridged? What makes it unique in the Bill of Rights? There are myriad time, place, manner restrictions for the First; multiple exceptions to the language of the Fourth, (Terry stops, no-knock warrants); state/federal double-jeopardy "work-arounds" to the Fifth. Yet the 2nd is uniquely inviolate? "The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed" [for the purpose of maintaining] "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State." What well-regulated militia allows its members to shoot a guy who slaps you at the shopping center? That's a street gang, not a well-regulated militia.
If Maryland does become a shall-issue state, it will be a sad day for some when you encounter the person who defends his life with deadly force because he fears you *even more* than you, him. On second thought, maybe shall-issue has its upside.
It'll be a great day indeed. Many will exercise this fundamental right that won't be abridged. It's just false that people who legally carry present a danger to anyone. Quite the contrary.
2:49 PM views The Constitution as a living document as liberals have been trying to do for a while now. Luckily Brandon has demonstrated what happens when you try to rule instead of govern. You learn nothing from history and like most Democrats can't remember what they said in the past but luckily the internet is forever. November can't come soon enough.
Lovvvely. This is the leftist dystopia that the MoCo Exec and Council have brought you all. SO GLAD I don't live there any more!
ReplyDeleteYou troll local blogs for a county you don't even live in? You must have moved somewhere super interesting!
ReplyDeleteWhere did you move that has never had a police call alleging misdemeanor assault? The moon?

ReplyDeleteLearn to tell time before you demand your right to shoot people.
Sincerely,

11:55 AM cares about people's grammar yet when it comes to the rule of law, ignorance and apathy.
ReplyDelete4:38 - that is so well said and better than me.
