Strong-arm robbery in Friendship Heights

The increasingly-mean streets of Friendship Heights found another victim yesterday afternoon. Montgomery County police responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery in the 5400 block of Wisconsin Avenue at 2:28 PM Monday, according to crime data. Yet another brazen daytime robbery, in Chevy Chase, no less.

Yep. Time for MD to get out of the US Constitution's way and allow law-abiding citizens carry permits for those who want to carry a firearm outside their home to protect person and property. It's outrageous that we are among the very few in this country who cannot legally carry. Let's hope the other cases SCOTUS is working will be successful. They are hearing 2A case this session.

It's really bad around the METRO Station at Friendship Heights. The panhandlers are all over the place on Connecticut Ave between the North and the South Station Enterences. I had 3 beggars come up to me within 20 minutes. One chased me up the escalator and another one was begging me off the street while I was at the ATM Machine trying to do a Bank Deposit. He said I must have money because I am at the ATM !

Years back before I moved down to Bethesda I had a young guy run up the escalator at the METRO Station there and yell right in my face. I asked him why he was screaming at me so loud. He said he just needed a couple of dollars. I knew then it was getting bad in Friendship Heights........

It is getting really bad there. The beggars don't pay to ride the METRO and they come right in from their bad neighborhoods for free and after jumping the turnstiles to ride the METRO go over to Friendship Heights come right out of the METRO and go right out on to Connecticut Ave and do their thing ! The Police need to have a stronger presence there........

This is why I conceal carry. You don't want to try this on me. Seriously.

12:16 - How did you get your CCP in MD just curious. Only current and former law enforcement, those with credible threats and business owners who deal with cash and the public are granted permits. Failed MD on 2A

Had a dude sit next to me on the metro who got on at friendship heights on the way to Bethesda and basically threaten to rob me, right during 5pm rush hour a few months back.

@4:41 AM: I was able to demonstrate a "Good and Substantial Reason". That's all I want to say about that.

However, I'm looking forward to the Supreme Court holding (which is coming very soon) that MD's current conceal carry standard of "May Issue" is unconstitutional.

Yes, sad that your good and substantial reason preceded a very difficult situation. It reminds me of NJ where a woman applied for a permit because of disgruntled boyfriend. Trying to navigate the crazy system of getting a permit in New Jersey, it was too late and she was killed by that man.

Keep Voting Democrat - it's only going to get worse. Not that Republicans are any good, but they certainly don't hate law-abiding citizenry like elected Dems do.

Yes it is getting worse. Shooting in Buffalo, Houston, LA, Silver Spring Metro, and on and on. I hope scotus comes out with a ruling that nullifies Maryland's anti-2A stance. Eventually, we, the good guys, will be able to carry if we choose.
