W. Curtis Draper becomes Capitol Cigar & Tobacco in Bethesda
W. Curtis Draper Tobacconist at 4916 Del Ray Avenue in Bethesda is under new ownership. Renovations are underway to update the store, which will now be called Capitol Cigar & Tobacco. A veteran manager from Signature Cigars on Cordell Avenue has come aboard here. The downtown tobacco market continues to thrive, with the arrival of Capitol Cigar and Smoke Island.
Some of the people, and the overall attitude of Signature is not good. Granville Smith, the owner, is a total jerk. I hope this place does in fact renovate and even is able to have a larger, nicer patio. With weather finally getting nicer, and the fact that you can't literally smoke almost anywhere, it would be nice to gather here for cigars, beverages and fraternity. They also need to promote it. Most of these places do very little marketing.
ReplyDeleteThe pushing of tobacco products is nothing to celebrate. That stuff is bad for you even if you don't inhale. I get the concept of adults being able to choose and I am known to have a cocktail or two from time to time but tobacco is, I think, more harmful.
ReplyDeleteLung, oral and throat cancer for everyone! Yay!
ReplyDeleteGood stuff. They've expanded their hours quite a bit and looks like they're installing a new indoor filtration system. Always liked this spot more than Signature.
ReplyDeleteLol at the whiners in the comments too. Thanks for the breaking news that smoking is unhealthy.
Not a smoker, but do people have equal opposition to all the bars on the same street? Liver cancer yay!
ReplyDelete12:25, I am not a "whiner" I am a realist with common sense. By all means enjoy your cigar, cigarette or whatever. You admit it is "unhealthy" but apparently keep doing it. Smart.
ReplyDeleteNews flash. Occasional cigar smoking is not dangerous at all to your health. So pot everywhere is ok and a traditional tobacconist isn't acceptable? Typical Libs who have no idea what they're talking about.
ReplyDeleteAsking for a friend, do they have poker tournaments in the back room like the folks in LA?
