Montgomery County police detectives have arrested a suspect in connection with eight armed robberies in Bethesda and Silver Spring. Donnell Harris, 29, of Silver Spring has been charged with multiple counts of armed robbery, first-degree assault, theft, and illegal possession of a firearm, as well as ammunition-related charges.
The robberies began August 10, 2022, and took place in Rosemary Hills, Silver Spring and Bethesda. When Harris was arrested on Friday, October 14, 2022, police allege he was in possession of a black 9mm handgun equipped with a laser. Multiple victims had described the suspect as having a laser-equipped firearm, and gave a physical description matching that of Harris.
Harris is being held without bond.
Charged with "Illegal Possession of a firearm"... which means all of MD's gun laws completely failed to stop this person from being in possession of an illegal handgun in the first place.
ReplyDeleteYou know what policy might have caught this person sooner and might have prevented some of these crimes from occurring?: Stop and Frisk. It actually works, but that's the only kind of Gun Control policy that you leftists are against apparently. Go figure.
Here's something else for you leftists: as long as he's in prison, he's not able to rob or assault anyone else and be a danger to the public. I know that concept is lost on you too.
10:48, Stop & Frisk doesn't make Brian Frosh feel safer. Only the disarming of law-abiding citizens makes him feel safer, so your suggestion is rejected with prejudice.
ReplyDeleteThrow away the key.
ReplyDelete@1:01 PM: Brian Frosh will never accept facts about Stop & Frisk and how effective it is against illegal possession of firearms and other crimes. If Stop & Frisk was practiced in MoCo, the County would be substantially safer within a matter of weeks and loads of gun criminals would be off the streets. It takes an appreciable amount of denial and indifference to public safety to ignore this reality. I sincerely regret that he and Marc Elrich didn't hand me my MD Wear & Carry permit personally. Maybe for my renewal. I'll ask.As for any "prejudice" issues, I'm happy to be used for balance. I'll provide my permit if stopped and asked by an officer.
ReplyDeleteHe'll be out by the afternoon.
ReplyDelete"Held without bond."
ReplyDeleteWokeness has a breaking point.

ReplyDeleteSorry Mr. Magoo, in case you can't see, the borders of the DMV are not impervious to anything, try again brainiac.

In Terry v. Ohio, the Supreme Court rules that 'stop and frisk' fell under the fourth amendment decrees in that citizens have a right to walk freely without being stopped by the police.

So I guess you want to give him life for these crimes? That didn't work with the Three Strikes law, in case you didn't know, sow what's going to make it work here Einstein?
I conceal carry because criminals like this guy roam the streets of MoCo and look for victims.
ReplyDelete@ 5:22 PM - What will be the criteria for your "stop and frisk" policy?
ReplyDelete@7:23 AM: "Sorry Mr. Magoo, in case you can't see, the borders of the DMV are not impervious to anything, try again brainiac."
ReplyDeleteYou just proved my point that "all of MD's gun laws completely failed to stop this person from being in possession of an illegal handgun in the first place". I know you don't realize it yet. Thanks though.
"In Terry v. Ohio, the Supreme Court rules that 'stop and frisk' fell under the fourth amendment decrees in that citizens have a right to walk freely without being stopped by the police."
Stop and Frisk is gun control. You won't call it gun control, but it is. It's also the most effective form of gun control there is, because you get the illegal gun and the person who's illegally carrying it in custody immediately, before they have an opportunity to commit another crime with it. Spare me your fake empathy here. These individuals have no intention of following any feel-good laws that you have in your mind to enact or attempt to enforce. They didn't get fingerprinted. They didn't get background checked. They didn't take the required training. They didn't purchase the gun legally. They ignored the entire scheme of laws you created and are in illegal possession of a firearm.
Legal gun owners abide by many requirements to legally own and carry. We get fingerprinted. We get background checked. We take required courses and training. We purchase our guns legally. We comply with local and state laws on carrying, including magazine limits and features, etc. Much of it is security theater and ineffective, because it's routinely ignored by criminals who illegally carry a firearm, often one that doesn't even have compliant magazines or features for the state they're in. I understand if that's an uncomfortable fact for you to face, but these criminals don't care what your state laws are.
As for implementing "Stop and Frisk", I give you Eric Adams, former NYPD captain and the current Mayor of NYC who argued in support of it being smartly administered: https://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/ny-oped-how-we-make-new-york-city-safe-20211128-4ekltfwlx5f4bgb3r4aegdnaiu-story.html
I stand with Mayor Adams on this. Do you?
"So I guess you want to give him life for these crimes? That didn't work with the Three Strikes law, in case you didn't know, sow what's going to make it work here Einstein?"
You dodged my point, but that's ok. The truth you have trouble acknowledging is that as long as he's in prison, he won't rob or assault anyone else. You don't need to give him life, but it's a typical bad-faith tactic to argue the extreme as an attempt to dismiss my point. I want him in prison for long enough that it scares anyone who knows him or copycat that they'll be in the next cell over if they try the same thing. Think you can agree on that?
You people carry that clandestine "card" in your mind to forever play when a crime occurs, it does you no damn good. You are only here to stoke the fire of fear, and that only works for "your people" on the right.
Delete@8:14 AM: See what NYC Mayor Eric Adams wrote here: https://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/ny-oped-how-we-make-new-york-city-safe-20211128-4ekltfwlx5f4bgb3r4aegdnaiu-story.html
ReplyDeleteI agree with Mayor Adams on it. Reasonable suspicion is the standard.
@6:02 PM: What do you mean by "You People"? Who are you referring to?
ReplyDeleteI don't carry any "clandestine card" in my mind and I don't "forever play" it when a crime occurs. Sounds like you have some unresolved issues you need to work through. You should do that. You'll feel better.
The card I do carry, however, is my MD Wear and Carry Permit. I really wish you supported having more MoCo police officers and more effective policing to prevent crime. Just so you know, I conceal carry here because you don't support that.
6:02 PM: Stop trying to make this about race. Please.
ReplyDeleteThe left uses the race card so much, its lost all meaning. Even MLK's niece can see what hypocrites the left has become. Watch ANY segment of Joy Reid or Tiffany Cross on MSNBC and you'll see true racism on display.
ReplyDeleteModerate democrats have had enough and independents are already off the DNC plantation. What's left are the truly deranged who think releasing criminals with no bail is still a good idea. "Moderate" Tim Ryan (D-Ohio), is now denying what he said in 2019 when running for president which was a commitment to reduce mass incarceration by 50 percent if he were elected.
Now that the chickens have come home to roost in the form of crime, democrats, (except those in safe liberal districts like Cori Bush), don't remember what they said just several years ago about defunding the police.
