Wool & Knots closing in Bethesda

A sign seen all-too-often in the windows of Montgomery County businesses has appeared at Wool & Knots at 7801 Old Georgetown Road: "STORE CLOSING: EVERYTHING MUST GO!" The rug shop was opened by founder Ali Ahmadi in 2003. His father was the founder of the Pars rug store in Abadan, Iran in 1960. Wool & Knots also offers rug cleaning, repair and appraisal services.

As you said Robert, it's a sign of the times. Oh well.

That sign is homeowner's today are not buying rugs of this style for their homes. they are more into the contemporary styles or bare flooring in the modern look.

Iranian carpet stores are notorious for holding fake "going out of business" sales.

That said, the continuing sanctions against Iran have taken a toll on these stores.
