Strong-arm attempted carjacking in downtown Bethesda

Montgomery County police responded to a report of a strong-arm carjacking in downtown Bethesda at 7:08 PM on Thursday evening, April 27, 2023. Allison Papson of Fox 5 reports that two men approached a man in the 4800 block of Fairmont Avenue. One of the suspects struck the man in the face, and attempted to carjack his vehicle. The suspects fled on foot without the car, leaving the male victim with minor injuries from the assault. This occurred while it was still daylight, and in the sight of two of the busiest spots in downtown Bethesda, 7-Eleven and Dog Haus Biergarten.

Nothing to see here as liberals will quote statistics from 20 years ago saying that crime is lower now. Don't mention that it's up significantly in the past several years.

And the house you road in on democrats...

@3pm - What a croc. I'm a liberal, all of my friends are liberals and guess what - we're horrified by the tremendous increase in crime. No one that I know quotes 20 yr. old statistics. Crime is up everywhere - every city, every state. Wake up.

Hey 6:13, did you happen to catch Mendelssohn's testimony before congress on crime?

No one you know is saying it tells me you need to stop reading the Post/NYT etal as your ignorance is showing.

7:22 & 3:00 are on point. By supporting democrats which value pronouns over law abiding citizens along with demoralizing law enforcement AND worst of all releasing repeat offenders in the name of equity.

So 6:13 can spare us feigned horror at the current crime wave while voting for the very cause of the problems facing us today.

    "two men approached a man"
Not to worry, 49% of the population are male.
By the time they find them, they'll be gone!

Wake up people, politicians and political debate is not going to fix the problem. And the police can’t be there to prevent every crime. The percentage of 15-16 year olds with weapons is insane. Be alert, be ready to think quickly, outsmart the crooks and if all else fails, be prepared to defend yourself.

We should maybe rethink what equity means unless it means that all private property should be shared and used by anyone who feels like it.

Have our police made any progress on any of these recent horrible crimes? If they did, one would think they'd be proud and let us taxpaying citizens know, eh?

Have our police ever caught any of these perps lately?

If the police do catch the ones responsible, they'll just be slapped on the wrist and told please don't do it again.

It'll take a shooting before we see any real action. They are all tied up in Silver Spring and Wheaton.

Leftists have done a good job of destroying SS, now they can move on to BCC.

It should be mandatory that Betesdans go to SS along Georgia Ave especially downtown. The police have lost control if they have to put up tower mounted cameras on trailers (x3, or more). The litter and trash are almost ankle deep in some places! I bet even the criminal class is looking forward to getting out of there! Where will they go?
