Alleged Westbard mail thief arrested; accomplice still at large

One of two suspects who allegedly stole multiple packages from an apartment building in the Westbard area of Bethesda last August has been arrested by Montgomery County police. Dawud Aubry Drayton, 19, of Oxon Hill is already free on bond, but during his brief time in custody, he was charged with burglary and theft. His alleged accomplice, not yet named by detectives, remains at large. Police also did not identify which of the two suspects pictured is Drayton.

Both men are accused of sneaking into the building in the 5400 block of Westbard Avenue behind a food delivery person at an undisclosed time on August 19, 2023. Once inside, they allegedly grabbed multiple parcels belonging to residents of the building, and fled on foot.

Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this crime or Draytons’ accomplice to visit the Crime Solvers of Montgomery County, MD website at www.crimesolversmcmd.org and click on the “www.p3tips.com” link at the top of the page or call 1-866-411-8477.

So, does the arrested one just laugh at the cop when asked about his accomplice?

It seems that his honor is applying the D'Alembert's principle.

@10:02 You meant McCarthy but it really doesn't matter as Rockville and Annapolis will keep releasing repeat offenders without regard for law abiding citizens.

  9. Robert you failed to post my comment of a few days ago. I'd like to hear your rationale as to why. I may take my commenting skills elsewhere if this continues. It was hilarious if I say so myself: "down payment on reparations."

  10. 5:29: I don't think you are a "bad actor," as I've seen you post legitimate comments on other articles. But please understand that I can't take any chances in approving comments that can be considered or even misconstrued as racist. The local political cartel, as it is, makes false and defamatory claims about me and my comments section elsewhere online such as Reddit. I ask everyone to be understanding of this, so that we can continue to have this rare public forum among news outlets who have turned off comments.

Robert, thanks so much for this excellent forum, certainly in these tumultuous times, particularly lately, it's a difficult path to referee divergent opinions without upset developing, at some juncture. I know I've had some things go unpublished, but I can understand why with a b>t of introspection. On the other hand, you've published things that I thought wouldn't be published.

Thanks for all you do here, and in your other community blogs. Merry Christmas!

  12. Thank you for that, I thought that might be the case. Of course the idea of reparations is one that is extremely unpopular in poll after poll including, I am sure, substantial numbers of AfAm interviewees. This divisive idea, along with much else pushed by Leftists, also gives certain elements the belief that society "owes" them something. This belief is not good for them or society in general as I suspect it leads to more crime. How do I know I am not a racist? I would much rather have Clarence Thomas or other AfAm conservative as a neighbor that your average white MoCo progressive.

Ditto, on both your points! I think the recent crime spikes in most of our arguably 15, or so, lost cities is because of reparations talk. When it doesn't happen, look out!

Canyon agree more re: neighbors. A black conservative beats while libs any day!

Robert, you have done a wonderful job: certainly its a difficult job to be both factual and not be deemed 'racist,' in putting out the news. But, facts are facts, and hurt feelings are just that. We cannot fix issues we can't address. Thanks for all you do!
