Demolition permit request notices have been posted at the former Giant grocery store at 5400 Westbard Avenue in Bethesda. The supermarket has relocated to the new Westbard Square development directly next to it at 5320 Zenith Overlook. A town square and new apartment building with ground floor retail and restaurant space will be constructed where the Giant and rest of the strip mall stand today. The former bank and Drug Fair spaces next to Giant were previously demolished to make way for the new Giant building.

Drug Fair? Wow! Haven't seen one of those in many many years.
ReplyDeleteAnd just to think, the older residents of this community continually opposed the new development even after Montgomery County cut the size of it in half ! Thank Goodness it’s moving ahead. I see younger people moving in to the NEW Apartments they are about to build there even though the nearby METRO Stations are not within easy walking distance.
ReplyDeleteIf you have a car, it’s an easy drive over to 3 METRO Stations. That’s why I would consider living there !
How can anyone move into an apartment that has not yet been built?
