Bethesda construction update: 7340 Wisconsin Avenue apartment tower (Photos)

Several more floors have been added to the apartment tower rising at 7340 Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Bethesda since my last update. The structural framework of the tower's "base," an architectural feature found in nearly all of the high-rises constructed since passage of the 2017 Bethesda Downtown master plan, is nearly complete. At completion, a 310-unit apartment building with ground floor retail space will have replaced a long-vacant Exxon gas station atop the Bethesda Metro station.

Developer Greystar anticipates the first residents moving in during Q4 2025, and delivery of the completed project in early 2026. Construction has been moving ahead full steam, without delay, by all visible indications.

What's the plan with the long abandoned footprint behind it that included the old Tommy Joe's and Pines? Such a bummer this build didn't include that space.

The rest of the block is owned by Washington Property/Douglas Dev. Proposed project looks great, but it has a substantial office component @ 330k sqft (in addition to retail and residential). We'll see if that project gets built as-is or if post-pandemic they decide to change the office/residential balance.

That’s owned by Washington Property Company and everything there is scheduled to be cleared out and demolished after 7340 is completed for a nice new tower.

Can't wait till this is complete. It's such a PIA going all the way around to get to the metro station!

Just use the east side metro entrance/exit rather than crossing Wisconsin twice

So who's moving into these monstrous sun blocking eyesores? Jawando's minions, MPDU 'ers, Air B&B'ers, rich investors, etc?
