Signage has been installed at Silver and Sons Barbecue at the new Westbard Square development in Bethesda. The Mediterranean-inspired barbecue recipes of chef-founder Jarrad Silver, whose cuisine also incorporates influences from his Jewish upbringing, have already been a big hit at his food truck's stops around the area. Beginning in November, diners will also travel to him for takeout at this Westbard Square storefront. It’s hilarious how Israeli, Lebanese, Greek, Turkish and even Persian restaurants in this area all call themselves “Mediterranean”.
ReplyDeleteWhat's so funny, that's the region of the world they represent?
DeleteIsrael, Lebanon, Greece, and Turkey all literally border the Mediterranean Sea
DeleteForgot about this. Tried their wings last Sunday at Bethesda Farmer's market. Really friendly guys and tasty wings. They use Ole Hickory Pits for their smoker. Any BBQ joint worth its sauce, smokes with their pits. This will be a great addition but wish they had chosen downtown Bethesda somewhere. I'm missing Hard Times. A definite plus.
ReplyDeleteProbably can't afford downtown Bethesda rent is my guess.
DeleteThey need to include more standard fare BBQ dishes and sauces (esp the sauces), plus better kids meals, or this will be a failure. I hope they succeed, but focusing on your niche specialty won’t work in a place like this.
ReplyDeletePork is not on the menu?
