Another sign has been installed at the new U.S. Post Office at 5364 Westbard Avenue at Westbard Square in Bethesda. The lighted blade sign was already lit up last night, much like the previously-installed main sign over the storefront. This post office was meant to replace the one demolished on Arlington Road, albeit a decade behind schedule. Will it open in time to mail your ballot for the election? Stay tuned!

Westbard Square U.S. Post Office update

Good to see the lobby will be open off hours for drop-offs and people who have mailboxes. It has been kind of a pain to not be able to do either at the downtown Bethesda location for years, as the doors to the outer lobby are locked at 5 on weekdays and 4 on Saturdays, with no access on Sundays. The two blue mail boxes that used to be just outside the post office were removed a while ago due to mail theft in the area.
ReplyDelete6:12: It will be interesting to see how the open lobby is managed. I believe the downtown lobby had to be closed at night because homeless people began using it as a shelter, with P.O. Box users finding a sleeping camper blocking their box.
DeleteThanks Robert. I think you're correct about the reason why the Bethesda location goes on lock down outside of business hours.
ReplyDeleteWe can't have anything nice. They ruin everything.
