Allbirds closes at Bethesda Row

Allbirds
has closed at 4852 Bethesda Avenue at Bethesda Row. The interior has been cleared out, and paper has been placed over the windows. We can partly blame Montgomery County's moribund economy for this closure, as the footwear chain had said earlier this year it would close 10 to 15 "underperforming stores" out of its 60 nationwide locations. However, the company is facing financial difficulties that led to that decision, and the replacement of its CEO.

Here you go again with that ridiculous, epithet made for your tombstone, "moribund". Then you contradict your foolish statement with statements about the companies financial status, Can't seem to make up your confused mind here. This isn't the first, nor will it be the last, one-trick, KFC type, merchant to realize they've bitten off more than they can chew. Your acuity in the opinion field is getting as bad as a certain orange criminal.

    1. On the contrary; my analysis was very incisive. You might want to read it again. Yes, our County economy is moribund. Hence the Bethesda store was one of the underperforming stores culled by the company, as planned. High performing stores remain open. Clearly, Bethesda's wasn't one of them. Moribund.

I hope we are not losing our higher end demographic, but I guess that's what North Bethesda is all about and it'll stay in the County.

The way ""North" Bethesda" is layed out appears much easier to "police" than our old deteriorating Bethesda. Eventually insurance costs, security costs, and burgeoning crime will make old Bethesda less attractive. It doesn't appear the county is too concerned since it's a 'wash' tax wise.

You've missed the main point. I had 10 pairs of Allbirds because they were comfortable -- I walk about 5 miles a day. Recommended them to others. Then they changed the last to be more fashionable, pointy toes and narrower toe box. Hurt my feet. Haven't bought a pair since. Found a better brand.
