Bob's Shanghai Bethesda applies for liquor license

Bob's Shanghai Bethesda
at 7776 Norfolk Avenue, in the ground floor of the Windsor Bethesda apartment tower, has applied for a liquor license from Montgomery County. Its hearing has been scheduled for March 5, 2026 at 10:30 AM. The eagerly anticipated Chinese restaurant is located in the former Anthony's Coal-fired Pizza space next to Medium Rare. Work has been going on inside the restaurant since September, but this is the first visible "sign" of progress, as the windows remain covered.

  1. It's no longer called Bob's Shanghai. The people opening this restaurant tried to fool the public into thinking this was an expansion of the actual Bob's Shanghai 66 in Rockville. They found out about this imposter and got their lawyers involved. If you look at the banner on the window, the name has been changed. Don't be fooled folks. This place is not the original. Will it be as good? Don't know. But do yourselves a favor and head to City of Rockville. I went the other day and it was jammed packed for lunch with a 20 minute wait. What Chinese restaurant has that kind of wait? I'll wait.

    1. Yet, they are now applying for the liquor license under the name Bob's Shanghai, as shown in the photo here.

    2. Robert, yeah, I noticed that too. Hopefully they don't try and use their name in any public way. They aren't affiliated in any way.
