Shake Shack coming soon to downtown Bethesda (Photos)

A big win for burger lovers in downtown Bethesda: Shake Shack will be opening a new location at 7535 Old Georgetown Road in the ground floor of the Element 28 apartment tower later this year. Signage with the New York-based burger emporium's now-familar logo has been posted in the windows of their future storefront. Imagine having a Shake Shack downstairs in your building. Element 28 residents won't have to imagine much longer, as construction on the interior fit-out appears to be underway inside the space. What an upgrade from SunTrust bank!

I find the 'Shroom Burger super heavy and greasy. However I think their veggie patty is one of the best available anywhere.

Montgomery County doesn’t allow Fast Food in to Downtown Bethesda or the Woodmont Triangle. Z Burger only got in because they are just a Storefront Operation………..

@ 3:19 - the building that replaced the McDonald’s was originally intended to have a new McDonald’s restaurant inside it. But the landlord found that prospective tenants didn’t want to share a building with a smelly grease duct and rowdy teens on their lunch break. Therefore, the McDonald’s was cancelled. Nothing to do with the County.

Downtown Bethesda and the Westbard area could use a Chick-fil-A. The vacated bank properties would have worked well with their existing drive thru lanes.

  7. 3:19 - according to whom? Bethesda business district had a McDonald's across from our Lady of Lourdes for decades and a Roy Roger's on E-W Highway and Wisc Ave for the same.
