Bethesda Medical Building being marketed for sale


The venerable Bethesda Medical Building at 8218 Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Bethesda has hit the market for sale. Currently only 50% leased, the 1954 commercial office structure is managed by Bethesda-based The Donohoe Companies. The asking price in the investment sale is $8,000,000, according to the online listing

In the short term, there is growth potential in adding more healthcare tenants. For example, a doctor on one floor can send a patient to a specialist or lab on another floor. Longer term, the greatest value of this property would be assembling it with the adjacent gas station and Monocle Building for redevelopment as a high-rise.

    If he's successful no medical buildings will be necessary.

      Maybe if they cut down on the layers of management, they'd have more for research.

      They are capping the "admin fee" for grants at 15%. A court stayed that decision, but cutting back on admin fees isn't necessarily a bad thing.

    Doctor visits there are quality & convenient and I would hate to schlep on Old G-town Rd with the "bike lanes" just to have to go back to Camalier Bldg hell.

    Attend the hearing on February 26 to push back against lifting the cap on new development (in person and virtual) ~ enough already!

    The public hearing will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Bethesda Regional Services Center at 4805 Edgemoor Lane. The meeting will also be available via Zoom.
