Bethesda Starbucks reopening TODAY

The reopening of the Starbucks at 7700 Norfolk Avenue has been moved up eight days. It will reopen this morning, Wednesday, April 30, 2025, according to a sign in the window. The store has been closed since January for major renovations. Today, we will see what the "exciting updates" are, besides the large custom couch that was flown in from California.

  1. Went by there yesterday afternoon/evening and there were a few people in there. May have been corporate Starbucks not sure but it looked open. The real interest on that block is the former Anthony's spot. I still can't believe the area didn't support that place or else their marketing was terrible. Either way, the fact is, that was the best pizza in a crowded downtown Bethesda field.

Disagree on the pizza. It was mediocre. Apparently many other people felt the same way. Andy’s is much better.

Now taking bets on when the location next closes for:

    *plumbing repairs
    *power loss
    *remodeling
    *[mystery rationale TBD]

Someone posted earlier it may behoove the owners to keep ultimate control of the baristas essentially watering down Union power. I think that might be a component. Their payroll is their biggest cost, and improvements are are great write off. As an aside, I'd like to know how much of these, and all, Starbucks are cash transactions.

  4. 1;10 - Disagree on Anthony's being mediocre. Disagree on others feeling that way. Finally, disagree strongly that Andy's is better.

Andy’s is open and Anthony’s is not. Disagree all you want but the facts are the facts.

  5. I liked Anthony’s ok, but definitely prefer Andy’s or M&Ns pizza

    1. 7:00 - that doesn't tell the whole story. do your research. Anthony's Coal Fired is a much bigger company and does millions in revenue. Andy's is local and small and not that great but decent
