Simona Cafe opens in Bethesda

Simona Cafe
has opened at 4520 East-West Highway in downtown Bethesda. They are initially in a soft-opening mode, so hours and days of operation will temporarily be limited. The restaurant will be open today, August 14, 2025, and tomorrow from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM. It will then be closed on Saturday and Sunday, August 16 and 17. They will reopen next Monday through Friday, August 18 to 22, again from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Regular hours, and the addition of beer and wine, will be announced in the near future.

  1. There are a ton of these kinds of places opening seemingly by the month. Fortunately, this is a very good one. From the "drive-by" view to the interior shots to their already existing excellent reputation, this is a great addition. Think Tate lite. This will certainly put the Sisters place next door out of business. The fact that they have everything from great breakfast and coffee to food with wine in the evening will be huge. Parking? RIght next door in a county garage that's mostly empty. And if that lot is very full, there's an entire county lot section across the street. Lastly, Revelation coffee, in the wake of Simona, is now in jeopardy I predict.

Maybe Starbucks (which I wouldn't call cheap necessarily) and DD are less. But this is a really nice concept which is meant to be seated versus to-go if that makes sense. You get what you pay for. And yes, Bethesda residents, some of whom live in 3/4 million condos, can afford it.

In looking at the menus for the other two locations, I agree the food is on the pricey side, but the coffee prices are similar to other cafes.

But Robert is a fan of cheap food, i.e. McDonald's etc.
