Stanchions and fencing have been installed outside of the future BabyCat Brewery at 4850 Rugby Avenue, in the ground floor of the Gallery Bethesda II apartment tower. The fencing sports BabyCat logos, and delineates the outdoor dining and drinking area. I believe this is required by the Montgomery County Department of Liquor Control, even though this area of the law got rather hazy during the pandemic. BabyCat is hoping to open this second Bethesda location before the end of the month.

From all accounts, this looks great. It's also in sort of dead part of town so I don't know if that's good or bad. They will certainly have little walk-by traffic as it is sort of hidden. I am reminded of how incredibly popular Rock Bottom was for so long. Amazing to recall that back then, folks didn't have any real idea what micro-brew was and certainly even fewer people had ever seen a brewing operation and not to mention one right next to your table where you were eating. Bethesda has tons of places to eat and drink but few are ever that busy. Is there any nightlife anymore? Robert talks about that often. This could indeed be awesome but competition for dollars is fierce.
