There's a new disc jockey on the scene in downtown Bethesda, but not in a bar. This DJ can be heard spinning for about 15 minutes twice a day in the vicinity of Del Ray Avenue, near the Gallery Bethesda, Gallery Bethesda II, Triangle Towers, and The Palisades apartments. To the chagrin of nearby apartment dwellers, one of the near-daily sessions typically takes place between midnight and 4:00 AM. Residents disturbed by the loud music report that calling the Montgomery County police (who have a station directly across the street on Rugby Avenue) and the management of the Gallery II (where some believe the early morning bangers are eminating from) has so far failed to stop the turntables. This has been going on for about 3 weeks, they say.
Maybe it is the police.

ReplyDeleteWe all know that there are laws on the books in this damn county ranging from noise ordinances, aggressive panhandling, illegal standing/parking on and on and on all the way up to homicide. The actual officers don't even know all the laws. A little research, effort and enforcing laws & statutes ALREADY on the books would be a good start especially in downtown Bethesda no matter how many uniformed officers the county is short. START with noise especially in the early AM, who knows they might even get some firearms off the street!

DeleteThis is news to this Gallery II resident! I have fortunately not been woken up -- however getting to sleep can sometimes be difficult when loud music (or late-night World Cup cheers) emanates from Babycat Brewery (I'm not bashing our new neighbor, and happy they're there, but wish some of this could be suppressed!). Sadly not surprised that management has remained mum.

DeleteI can tell you this right now that not a single officer on the MoCo PoPo knows every single infraction listed in the county's Annotated Code and since they don't want to do anything about anything all the scofflaws win. There are local ordinances very specific about noise, traffic, construction ad nauseum but everything is let go here in the MoCo especially downtown B-town (our 1970's nickname for our lovely bedroom community) all due to decaying society, shortages of necessities (police, not BCCRS) sanctuary county "status", teen takeovers, gangs, Amazon, lyft, über, door dash, no muffers, loud racing cars & rice burners, fake plates, no id's, etc all due to the county council cartel. ENFORCE ORDINANCES ALLREADY IN PLACE ! Starting with dropping one or more of the other type ordinance on marc elrich & jawando's houses in takoma park & cleverly. Wouldn't that be a great start? Whatever happened to Gardien Biez (*sp), the ex-cop who used to post on the glossy magazine blog, is he still around? Maybe he could weigh in ..

DeleteIt's funny that some of y'all think it OS the police because not too long ago down in Chinablock near the Verizon Center across the street on the big steps at the National Portrait Gallery they (DC Metropolitan PoPo) used to blast classical music to discourage loitering and to keep blacks away especially during caps games, then eventually stopped it even though it worked, because some left-wing pinko's thought it was offensive.

Delete12:48 Yer' a dumbass or a troll, when the Verizon Center first opened, that area was officially known as Chinatown, then construction, retirements etc basically reduced that area to a mere block, hence Chinablock. If you can't keep up then get out of the game.
