The process of converting the former Catholic Charities-operated men's shelter into a restaurant space has begun at 4848 Cordell Avenue. Sigal Construction is the contractor.
An overhaul of the exterior and interior designed by the architecture firm of Steven J. Karr, AIA, Inc. will raise the building's height, add more glass to the facade, and modernize the overall structure. There will also be a public art mural on the wall facing the adjacent parking lot.
Heads up if you park in Public Parking Lot 28 though, as construction is taking up several parking spaces, including one handicapped space.
Bethesda House has moved out to White Flint.
So will it be called "North Bethesda House" now?
ReplyDeleteOr "White Flint House"?
Or "South Rockville House"?
Or "Rocksy House"?
#DEPORTDYER
ReplyDeleteIs Rocksy a legitimate option, or was that put out there as a left field choice to distract everyone that Pike District has already been chosen?
ReplyDeleteThe county's Bethesda Services Center newsletter already refers to the "Pike District" this week and that's the name that at least some of the developers wanted.
Yes it does feel like a bit of a red herring to make the others sound better, right? We do it all the time in design when we send one intentionally worse one so the client will be more inclined to choose our preferred design. It works a lot. :)
DeleteIs #DYER part of the #IllumanatiasTisz?~!
ReplyDeleteFlintstone, Bedrock, or Bethrock
ReplyDeleteThe NIMBY's have quietly gotten their way I see.
ReplyDelete#Dyer is a shill ... #SHUTDOWNTHISBLOG
ReplyDeleteWhats wrong with just 'White Flint' as the name?
ReplyDeleteI think the concern with White Flint is that it's really only associated with the old mall which is being knocked down.
