Someday, if we're good, MoCo will let us buy a bottle of wine at the grocery store or a six pack.

"Arlington", do you realize that the restriction on alcohol sales by chains such as grocery stores, gas stations and 7-11s is not due to County law but due to State law, which prohibits business entities from having more than two licenses each?

If you're that eager to buy your booze at a grocery store, you can always go to Chevy Chase Supermarket.

  9. Anonymous, we won't know Hans Riemer's role in the DLC liquor scandal until the press or inspector general investigates what he knew, and when he knew it. I've never engaged in slander or libelous reports, but you have, and now you're flat-out lying, to boot.

Robert Dyer should be allowed to buy his light beer in the same shopping trip as he buys his lasagna microwave dinner and bag of new ruffles potatio chips.

Imagine the volume of food review we'd get, the efficiency.

Moco wont sell alcohol in supermarkets in a conspiracy to prevent Robert Dyer from doing more food reviews, i blame hans riemer.

Robert should know the difference between libel and slander (libel is written, slander spoken) since he often writes mean things about people but peeps up like a good subservient sheep when at county council public hearings

    1. Again, you have narrowed down your identity, Anonymous, by placing yourself at the taxicab public hearing. There's only so many people you could be at that point. Moreover, you surely are not so ignorant of the rules of a public hearing as you make yourself sound. A citizen testifying can only have the floor when it is granted by the acting chair or president, or by another sitting councilmember at the discretion of the chair or president. Those are the rules of order, and a citizen cannot rebut statements - no matter how false or rude they may be - unless given the floor to do so. I realize a boorish, buffoonish and disrespectful response may come naturally to the MoCo machine, but that doesn't mean I have to lower myself to your level. Please expand upon what I should have done - scream and shout, jump up and down on the table? Learn Robert's Rules of Order and get back to me. Unlike you, and before Hans Riemer had even finished unloading his U-Haul from California, I've actually served as an elected official in Montgomery County. The only sheep here are the media and the council's hired hands like you who spend your day defending the tired, failed, impotent and incompetent "leaders" of Montgomery County. What a job.

Yay, I love when crazy-person Dyer goes on his crazy-person "the county's after me" rants! The fact it happens on a thread with him taste testing trailer trash beer while wearing camo makes it even better. Happy New Year to me!

    1. 9:15: Classic elitist. The county isn't after me. But considering the average citizen is in no way passionate about Hans Riemer, Barwood Taxi, etc., you are clearly being paid to post comments on here by someone who doesn't like having a single media outlet that actually prints the truth about what's going on in Montgomery County.

You have no facts to back you up, and then you change the subject to calling people "crazy" or using foul language. Yeah, that should rally the public to your side.

If Dyer prefers to think only 1 person comments on his blog (and that they're hired by the county council, and also hired by BethesdaNow, since both are in a conspiracy to take Dyer down) then that's pretty funny too. It's a win-win for everyone here to see Dyer make an idiot of himself.

    1. 7:28: Yeah, the citizens of the county are trying to "deal with it:" the traffic congestion, the nonexistent economic development, demolition of affordable housing, MCPS declining, pay-to-play development corruption, urbanization of residential suburban neighborhoods, school overcrowding, high taxes, not one single major corporation moving to the county in over a decade - too bad the Council has control of the few media outlets in town to help low-information voters who didn't bother to research the candidates before voting.

    1. 3:40: It was a debacle, but not for me. I was proven not-so-hilariously right, when actual residents of the neighborhood weighed in on the dangerous intersection and completely backed up my report. Only political operatives like yourself consider non-functioning pedestrian signals and closed sidewalks at construction sites to be a boffo, fabulous record on pedestrian safety by your failed county council.

I don't need to "move on." I'm engaged in the community and arena of public debate as always. Unlike George Leventhal and Hans Riemer, I don't need elected office to validate myself. Too bad they squandered their power on serving developers, Wall Street and themselves.

Here are the comments on that thread which Dyer blithely ignores:

"Clearly, the new crosswalk signals go with the new stoplights being installed (neither of which are active yet). The old crosswalk signals and old stoplights to cross Old Georgetown Road are still there and functioning properly, despite the angles of Robert's photos attempting to hide this fact. Did Robert seriously think none of us would know there are still functioning crosswalk signals at Old Georgetown? Explain to me again how installing new crosswalk signals (updated to include voice notification when the push button is employed) is a "war on pedestrians"?"

"Poor robbie got confused when he saw the unfinished work and wanted to open the box up and see what was behind it. Perhaps he should stick to reveiwing processed foods"

"Photos 4, 5, and 6 clearly show the old crosswalk signals are still in place and presumably will be until the state switches over to the new stopslights/crosswalk signals. "Boy who cried wolf" comes to mind...."

"Duh, people. There have never been pedestrian walk signals to cross Battery Lane. That's why SHA is in the middle of adding them. Anyone even marginally educated on this intersection knows the EXACT OPPOSITE of a "war on pedestrians" is taking place. They're ADDING PEDESTRIAN SIGNALS TO THE INTERSECTION. I don't know how to state this any clearer."

"Silly, Dyer. Facts and educated readers are his worst enemies."

"Does Dyer still not get it? The SHA is in the middle of installing new pedestrian signals (replacing old signals to cross Old Georgetown and adding entirely new signals to cross Battery Lane). How on earth can this be twisted into a bad thing and evidence of a "war on pedestrians"? Dyer is an absolute fool who just cannot bring himself to admit when he's blatantly wrong. What a repulsive characteristic to have."

"They are LITERALLY in the middle of installing pedestrian signals here for the first time EVER. This intersection has existed for generations and has never had a pedestrian signal, but now that one's being installed you say "look at this - they're installing pedestrian signals! It's a war on pedestrians!" Do you understand how utterly stupid that sounds? You're an opportunist who likes to tap into anti-government anger and you can't even do it right. So pathetic on so many levels."

    1. 4:52: You just embarrassed yourself again, political operative. Not only were the signals to cross Battery there inoperable when I wrote that article, they are still inoperative TONIGHT. I invite anyone to go there in the rain right now, and you will find the signals to cross Battery are still in their boxes, dark.

All you did was reprint the lies and the lying liars who tell them from the comments section. The fact that you try to cover up a story that was brought to my attention by parents concerned about their kids' safety crossing the street there only proves to readers the depths that you and your guys on the council are willing to stoop to, to cover-up mass incompetence and failure by one of the lowest-performing and least-talented legislative bodies in the history of the Western World. Embarrassing.

And once again, you missed the point. There weren't signals to cross Battery that were removed or turned off. THERE HAVE NEVER BEEN ANY.

You're incapable of admitting that you are wrong, and incapable of learning...anything.

  25. 5:55/7:37: Does using an F bomb in every comment reflect a highly-educated background? Or is it your inability to comprehend that an article about non-functioning pedestrian signals in boxes is totally accurate when those signals are non-functioning and in boxes? And remain inoperative and in boxes even as you type your latest profane paid troll comment?

Every literate person "can plainly see" I'm right, and your guys on the council are dead wrong. Someone who continues to argue about a factual matter that anyone can verify for themselves today by visiting the intersection is either off their rocker, or a paid political operative. The signals don't work. Period. End of story.

How could anyone have a sense of proportion when this council has been so epically, tragically bad, wrong and incompetent? They are literally propped up by the media, who expend daily energy to ensure the busy public doesn't catch on that these folks are Amateur Hour on steroids.
