DONNA EDWARDS OFFICIALLY ENTERS U.S. SENATE RACE IN MD

U.S. Representative Donna Edwards (D - Maryland) has officially entered the race to replace retiring U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski. Edwards has a campaign Facebook page, and released an announcement video around 9:30 AM this morning.

The video emphasizes Edwards as a champion of the middle class, senior citizens and women's reproductive rights. Her record of securing $2.5 billion in funding for historically-black colleges, and job creation record at NASA's Goddard Flight Center in Greenbelt are also touted.

Edwards also hints at the theme of being the underdog, in a race where already-declared candidate Chris Van Hollen (D - District 8) has collected hasty endorsements from Senator Harry Reid, Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett, and the entire Montgomery County Council. How much the support of the Montgomery County political establishment will benefit Van Hollen remains to be seen.

Unions have not declared their support for a candidate at this stage, and Edwards could do well in other populous areas of the state. Not every prominent Democrat in Montgomery County has announced an endorsement yet, either, and additional candidates may enter the race in the days ahead.

With all the shake-up, will you be running for a spot? Congressman Dyer to the rescue!

I think Van Hollen and Edwards are both excellent reps, so it'll be interesting to see how it shakes out.

Everybody I talk to. You may not believe it, but Robert has a loyal following in Bethesda because he says it like it is and is extremely well-versed in local issues. Unlike some johnny come latelys who claim to follow local politics.

The people I talk to (mainly the MoCo young dems) are wondering whether Reimer is running for president. He rocked the vote and was instrumental to Obama winning. And he single handily saved social security from Bush.

Imagine Reimer in the White House!

    "11:02am is trolling Dyer again?"

You seem to be the one trolling. You act like my statements are hard to believe or something.

The thing I like most about Robert is his willingness to respond to his critics. You'll never see him shy away from a debate, even if it's from behind his keyboard or all the way out in Olney (basically the same thing)

Dyer has some creepy stalkers. Such as the guy who wrote about watching him testify at a Council hearing a few months ago from the back of the room.

He was too timid to talk to Dyer at the meeting, so he anonymously commented about it on Dyer's blog. Weird.

Usually if it's a slow news day in Bethesda, the trolls will spend their time on here commenting.

Unlike his shills, who obviously are too busy to waste their time here. LOL
