The annual start-up of the fountain in Veterans Park is always a sign of spring, and the approaching of summer. It also makes the park a more pleasant place to hang out or dine in.
Most importantly, it enhances the central purpose of the park - the memorial that commemorates residents of Bethesda and Chevy Chase who died in the wars of the 20th and 21st century. Stop by for a visit, at the corner of Norfolk and Woodmont Avenues. There is a Starbucks right across the street, a 7-Eleven nearby on Fairmont Avenue, and several restaurants steps away from the park - Jetties, BGR, The Parva, Bold Bite, Tastee Diner, Woodmont Grill and Black's Bar & Kitchen, to name a few. A Capital Bikeshare station is located at the Norfolk Avenue side of the park.
But on Thursday evenings in May, June and July, the park is also home to Bethesda Urban Partnership's diverse Summer Concert Series. Here is the lineup for this summer. Concerts are held between 6:00 and 8:00 PM.
Couldn't you get a shot with people actually in the Park? It's not like we had crappy weather either of the past two days. Showing an empty park doesn't exactly get people excited about the upcoming concert series, you know.
ReplyDelete6:26: It's "That Guy" again folks, with a serious case of blog envy.
DeleteSays the guy who whines about PoP being "praised to the high heavens".
ReplyDelete9:18: I never "whined" about it. I just told you he's been "praised to the high heavens" by the local media. And, therefore, you sound out-of-touch by criticizing my blog for the same kind of coverage he provides in his neighborhood. I've never criticized PoP. You're just making things up again, a specialty of yours.
ReplyDelete6:26 The Red Lobster called. They're short one crab.
ReplyDeleteI tipped 'em off, so you'd best scuttle quick behind a dumpster somewhere.
