The dates of the official closure are not filled in yet, but it is already closed in practical terms, via the size of the signage. Pedestrians were crossing to the other side of Woodmont on Sunday.

Sidewalk closure for Bethesda Medical Building work (Photos)
Here's a rare thing to find in downtown Bethesda - a sidewalk closure that actually includes the now-required public notification sign. A new ADA-accessible ramp is being added to the Bethesda Medical Building's Woodmont Avenue entrance, and a sidewalk closure notice is posted at either end of the block between Battery Lane and Cordell Avenue. There are signs of other work that may be involved, such as a wooden structure just south of the building entrance.
I get the sign mans how if helps. But there were two guys spending quite a lot of time setting these up yesterday. Making and storing them, picking up and driving and setting them up, then pickup and return and more storage. At what tax payer cost?
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the sign cost is included in the cost of the permit?
ReplyDeleteIf a golf ball was about to nail dyer in the head would you warn him? I know I wouldn't!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the "other website" reported on this a few minutes after Dyer, without giving him credit for the scoop of course.
ReplyDeleteI think the sign is big news because it's the first sign of improvement in handling closings. They should also list a contact point and provide an easy way to report violations.
Dyer's very last photo will be looking in the window of a vacant shop, with the reflection of a car driven by a confused elderly person that is about to smash through him and the window glass.
ReplyDeleteHow come Dyer's pictures of sidewalks never actually include any pedestrians using them?
ReplyDeleteIs Dyer a reverse vampire!?!? We all know something isn't quite right with this fool.
ReplyDelete5:58AM yeah, it's fine if another site wants to aggregate content from the Post, Dyer and elsewhere, but they should properly source it.
ReplyDeleteBack to the sign, it is big news if folks are required to do this now. It's a huge sign that you can't miss.
6:01AM The sidewalk is effectively closed with the signs, doubt there will be many pedestrians.
As long as I'm making Dyer's life a living hell my life is complete!!
ReplyDelete6:14 AM yeah, I'd hate to live or work with this negative troll. Sounds miserable.
ReplyDeleteProbably blogs from the Bethesda Starbucks restroom...no one wants his negative energy.
I hope I'm ruining your day too :) :) :) :)
ReplyDeleteTroll, do you live in a trash can? You can be so accusatory and illogical.
ReplyDeleteWhat a waste of tax payer money. Better would be if there was a way to see when it will re-open and who to contact with questions.
ReplyDeleteI live up your butthole!!
ReplyDeleteGuess the troll's summer activities have ended and he is back full time, our next break will be at the holidays.
ReplyDelete6:40 AM I don't think he ever left us. He has a laptop strapped to him during business hours, so he's always ready to troll here.
ReplyDeleteYou mean a cellphone in his pocket? Ha.
DeleteI will never ever stop trolling. Troll 4 life!!!! Dyer is public enemy #1 and I'm paid over 150K per year to troll the hell out of him!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the way Dyer's shill can't wait more than two minutes to respond to the "troll".
ReplyDeleteWe're going in circles. Same thing most days.
ReplyDeleteEventually at the end of the morning the troll says Dyer is the troll, a shill and everyone else commenting here. lol.
Rinse and repeat again tomorrow.
Presumably the troll believes he is a competitor to Dyer and trolling is somehow helping him.
You're contributing to the circle by insisting the troll or anyone works for a fellow blog.
DeleteMaybe the troll just hates fucking Dyer? And wants to see him knocked down a peg off his high horse? That dude needs to get the fuck out of bethesda man!
ReplyDeleteDyer sleeps in the daytime, so he needs his shill to cover for him in the hours when normal people are awake.
ReplyDelete"the Bethesda Starbucks"
ReplyDeleteAre you even from Bethesda? There are three separate Starbucks in downtown Bethesda, plus the one inside the Barnes & Noble.
7:20 AM Doubtful since Dyer is reporting all day on his site.
ReplyDelete6:54 AM Dyer should move to Arlington and then run a Bethesda blog from there. We know how that worked so well for the NOW folks.
If only we lived in North Korea where we could easily silence Dyer and send him to a hard labor camp ... some days I wonder if democracy is worth it!
ReplyDeleteI would gladly give up my freedoms if Dyer was sent to a labor camp!!
ReplyDeleteSo a sign is a nice idea and all but the shopowners have been complaining this big sign is blocking access and visibility to their stores. County was out there today talking to the workers about sign placement.
ReplyDelete#unintendedconsequencses
#goodintentions
I think the problem is they made the signs so big assuming they are for drivers who need to see it from afar. They should use smaller signs and font sizes, since it's for pedestrians who will see the sign up close anyway.
ReplyDelete5:58: I think the sign is big news because it is actual living proof they have such a sign.
ReplyDelete@ 7:57 AM, 8:05 AM - That's a bit extreme. Most of us would be happy if he got a job.
ReplyDelete11:11 AM I doubt the negative comment guy is investing the time to try and disrupt Dyer's site just because he doesn't like Dyer. If that's true, then they guy really is off his rocker.
ReplyDeleteMore likely, he is a competitor trying to disrupt Dyer's site. Totally fails at his efforts against Dyer, but he keeps trying.
11:34 AM Dyer is doing a great job with his MoCo news sites.
I don't think it's a competitor. there's no evidence to support that. Just because other blog links get posted as reference or after dyer posts first is hardly damning evidence. Washington Post would be in trouble if so. It seems the trolls just really dislike dyer and his opinion.
Delete12:10 PM You make it sound like a legion of trolls. It's one guy..lol.
ReplyDeleteIt's the same guy posting the same thing again and again. Just look earlier today, same thing again and again.
Dislike Dyer? Because he publishes a news site? Who else would care other than a competitor? lol. You prove my point. Anyone else simply wouldn't visit a site they didn't like all day.
It's a competitor. They're in front of a laptop all day with not much work, so they troll Dyer. The troll doesn't have an important job with any demands, so that gives ample time.
Of course, they also visit to steal Dyer's material :)
12:43 PM It's a competitor. You wouldn't keep coming back otherwise.
ReplyDeleteYou have no specific complaint, just that Dyer publishes a news site.
Who else would care other than a competitor? You prove my point daily.
You would make an excellent lawyer. Win a lot of cases with that kind of logic.
DeleteThis is the most stupid comment thread I have ever read in my 20 years using the internet.
ReplyDelete@ 1:36 PM - You're new here, aren't you? Check out the archives and have some fun.
ReplyDeleteHull's boys..back to trolling and copying. Rinse and repeat again tomorrow :)
ReplyDeleteDyer's boys..back to trolling and copying. Rinse and repeat again tomorrow :)
ReplyDeleteThe sign was gone later this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteAnyone find a place to eat sushi off of naked women in Bethesda?
ReplyDelete7:20 AM: That's funny, I recall breaking the news that Bruce Variety was closing around lunchtime. You must have been asleep. "Don't go to bed before the King."
ReplyDelete6:42 AM: You're overstating your salary by about $50,000. But I'd still like to read a Bill Turque article exposing who's paying it.
ReplyDeleteUh, no. I am paid over 150K - suck it Dyer!
ReplyDelete7:23 - Well that's impressive. So, of your employer and you, which is "Dumb" and which one "Dumber"?
ReplyDeleteThis comment should be deleted as a violation of commentor policy.
Delete11:23: It may be Dumb and Dumberer.
DeleteFunny how your feel no problem insulting others but when you are insulted you delete a comment claiming violation of comment policy.
Delete6:15: Anyone who read 7:23's comment would applaud my response. Except you.
DeleteWhat's even funnier is his hysterical responses to comments which he has already deleted.
ReplyDelete6:55: What's even funnier, is when you are busy - like yesterday and Sunday - and the troll comments mysteriously stop, proving it's just one guy trolling most of the time.
DeleteExcellent detective and lawyer skills. Would definitely be hard evidence in case.
DeleteNot just when he is "insulted", but shown to be clearly wrong. Which he tries to call "libel".
ReplyDeleteBreaking: Reamer got a paper cut today. Yes, we're reporting this. More details to follow.
ReplyDelete@ 9:53 AM - In order to take your comment seriously, one would have to believe that "the glossy magazine" published more than just one article on Dyer's nemesis's recent hip injury.
ReplyDelete@ 12:11 PM - The skeptics made plenty of comments yesterday. You just deleted them all.
ReplyDeletePathetic bullshitting liar.
3:01: A handful of early and late troll comments which violated comment policy; otherwise, all was quiet on the Western Front yesterday as Troll Guy was otherwise occupied for much of the day, and unable to post. #Oops
DeleteThat does not make any sense.
DeleteYep..it's one negative troll guy. When he's not trolling here, notice all the weird comments aren't being posted.
ReplyDeleteEither he got locked inside the Bethesda Starbucks bathroom with an empty battery or maybe he's actually busy for once?
It's the same thing over and over again. What proof would you have? Otherwise it's conjecture. And according to dyer that's defamation and a violation of commenting policy.
DeleteYeah, one problem common to members of the MoCo political machine - the inability to find the doorknob to exit a room, as evidenced by the County's economic development record.
DeleteHow does this connect to the comment?
DeleteKeep repeating your lame talking points to yourself, Shill.
ReplyDeleteEveryone in Bethesda reads this site. There's one negative guy that posts here from the crapper in the Bethesda Starbucks. The rest of Bethesda enjoys Dyer's work.
ReplyDeleteProof of your thesis that it is one person? Didn't think so.
