The new Wendy's that is replacing the McDonald's at Naval Support Activity Bethesda on the Walter Reed campus is now under construction. Workers are converting the Golden Arches restaurant into a Wendy's. Unfortunately, the finished restaurant will only be accessible to those who have the credentials to get onto the base.

Thank goodness. Healthy options like Wendy's are far better than McDonald's.
ReplyDeleteHow do we access the Wendy's if we aren't military!? :(
ReplyDelete@7:31 It's worth enlisting to get access to the new Wendy's. Trust me.
ReplyDeleteBethesda has become a McDonald's Desert.
ReplyDeleteI blame the MoCo Machine.
The base was open to the public pre 9/11. I'd go there in high school to McDonald's, when the lines were too long at the McD's on East-West Highway (now gone).
ReplyDelete@ 7:31 AM & 12:09 PM - Those were the days when you could drive through pre 9/11. I remember cutting through NIH from Old Georgetown to Wisconsin Ave all the time. I believe you still can access the base as a public if you have an official business reason to be on base (i.e. not just driving around) and you go through the main gate down by Cedar Lane. You could say you are going bowling?? http://bethesdanavalbowlingcenter.com/About
ReplyDeleteAccess restrictions are saving us from watch Dyer taste test another fast food product. Amen.
ReplyDeleteCan you find out why McD's closed though? Did the contracting office put out a new bid? Why? I worked there and McD's was always there. Maybe somebody (who?) wanted a new look, a change. Does Wendy's have more buzz? But McD's is making many positive changes and I still like the coffee. I'm sorry to see it go.
