Thief steals hermit crabs from Bethesda Scooters and Boards

The pet hermit crabs at Bethesda Scooters and Boards were trying to enjoy the spring weather outdoors last Thursday, March 24, when they were snatched by an unknown thief. According to the store's owners, the crabs were inside a coconut shell in Veterans Park, which is right outside the store at 4825 Fairmont Avenue.

Whoever took the crabs, also took their "house."

If you have any information about the whereabouts of the crabs, or if you saw anything that might help identify the thief, call the store at (301) 654-7710. They are offering a reward.

    A coconut shell sitting in the middle of a public park? Are we sure it wasn't just, you know, thrown away by BUP or someone else?

    Is that dreadful vapor store still open upstairs? As much as I do not wish to support them, our Au Pair seems to have taken up smoking once more and if we could get her to switch to vaporizing, it would likely cut down on offensive odors on her clothing.

    @8:21 are you seriously saying that anyone would be ok with the developer just dumping a bunch of coconut shells on the ground for people to live in and calling it Westbard?

    @9:28 We do, but very reluctantly. If we cannot find a solution we plan on sending her back and finding a new Au Pair.

      I'm curious to know that also. Seems like a random coconut shell left in the park could possibly have been mistaken for trash? Is there a picture of the coconut shell habitat?

    I haven't seen a picture of what was described as a "house" but I see what you mean about somebody thinking a coconut shell was litter, even if it was unusual litter. If they went to the trash, it is indeed a sad end to the episode.
