Residents of the old and new residential buildings within walking distance of Eastham Park just got a new amenity. A Capital Bikeshare station is now open, providing a new way to get around the downtown and to the Metro station. The station is on Woodmont Avenue, near Leland Street and Strathmore Street.
Just a few easy minutes from the station in Westbard. One need never worry about traffic on River Road again.

Delete1 1/3 miles from Westbard to Eastham Park. And that's without any shortcuts. You don't have to be "Lance Armstrong" to ride that distance. Most folks should be able to cover that in about 10 minutes.

8:43: If it's so great, why aren't people doing it now? There's a Capital Bikeshare station on River Road, and traffic hasn't improved at all.

ReplyDeleteAlso, he does not seem to realize that automobile traffic is prohibited on the Capital Crescent Trail, and that there are no traffic lights on the Trail along the route between Westbard and Eastham Park.

Thirdly, if your route keeps you from being in any traffic whatsoever, then good for you!! You're not one of the bikers who flies around Woodmont weaving between cars stopped at the red light and plowing on through the intersection. Even better.
@ 7:49 AM - The route from Westbard to Eastham Park runs along the Capital Crescent Trail, to Bethesda Avenue, to Woodmont Avenue. It is legal to ride bicycles on the sidewalk. If you chose to ride in the street instead of the sidewalk, that gives you exactly one traffic light, at Bethesda Avenue and Woodmont Avenue.
