The WMAL transmitter site in Bethesda - as you've never seen it before (Video)

Check out this drone video of the WMAL transmitter site on Greentree Road in Bethesda. It will be gone in a couple of years, if the Montgomery County Planning Board approves the Toll Brothers residential project planned to replace it.

The towers will be relocated to Germantown.

This appears to violate FAA restrictions on drone flights within a 15-mile radius of DCA. Distance from this site to DCA is just under 12 miles.

Really cool video! I wished the person who made it would shoot it in 1080P or 4K...maybe another video will come out?!

Nice video. That's a huge space -- plenty of room for new development.

Can you ask him to do a drone video of Westbard also?

    1. Would be great to see Westbard and get a sense of the scale everyone is taking about.

7:39 You can find something negative in just about everything... If THAT'S what you're looking for.

Video was great. The WMAL song too.

Yeah, it's a big space. Haven't been over there in years. But as someone who travels Fernwood every day, I'm concerned. That's a lot of homes and cars to be added to the area.

Excellent open space parkland perfect for a big bike path around the exterior. A dog park and artificial turf soccer field would be great here. County is desperate to find more rectangular ball fields. See their study on this.

10:28 that ship has already sailed.

Ship has not sailed. Nothing built there. Many, many, many, many projects that a developer "thought" was a good idea on paper never have happened.

Right there's nothing built there now but Toll Brothers is going to. It's one of the biggest jewels there is in the area for residential real estate. A 300-acre undeveloped tract in Bethesda is an unheard of dream. It's too expensive to be anything else. There's no way it won't be all housing. I don't like it but that's what's going to be built there. Your ideas are very good and I wish they could be implemented.

Wow! What an opportunity to get badly needed playing fields for the schools and rec leagues. The County Council will surely ignore the need for this type of development since there's no money in it for them or their developer buddies. God forbid the taxpayers won't get anything as a benefit.
