Monty Hoffman (PN Hoffman) and Doug Firstenberg (StonebridgeCarras) at ribbon-cutting for The Darcy/The Flats |
“The NCPPP National Public-Private Partnership Awards recognize those organizations and individuals going above and beyond to advance the concept and implementation of public-private partnerships across the country,” NCPPP President Sandra Sullivan said in a statement. “We are proud to recognize innovators and leaders whose work serves as exemplary partnership models.”
Perhaps the most complex real estate project ever built in Montgomery County, both buildings were delivered last year.
This bldg is sick AF. Mad kudos to Douggie F and the boys for building another spot Dyer can't afford #PriceDyerOutOfBethesda
ReplyDeleteThis building is totally swick. Poppy's twins can't wait to do some skateboarding and vaping at that fountain.
ReplyDeleteThe lot 31 project has a lot going for it, but also quite a few questionable parts
ReplyDeletePros
- looks pretty
- Added a second property owner to force some competition on FRIT's monopoly in that area
- added more retail!
- added more housing where it was much needed
- added a ton of parking
- pretty outdoor area behind the Flats and nice fence and landscaping behind the houses
Cons
- the parking garage is strange. Such a loooong garage and the winding exit is perilous. The lanes inside shift to make a turning lane for residents too so it's loopy inside as well.
- the woodmont realignment doesn't really help the roads (maybe it was just for the buildings?). The intersection is massive and not lined up. Pedestrian crossings are far and long and cars can get caught in between the crossing lane and the intersection. It also makes the new buildings seem so far away instead of Bethesda Row's close and homely feel.
- the condo views stink. Hopefully when JBG redoes their building it's much nicer.
Couldn't agree more with your comment about the intersection realignment. That has to be one of the top 10 worst intersections in the world.
ReplyDeleteWhen I opened this article, I saw a bunch of old white heads. I thought this was yet another hearing over Westbard.
ReplyDeletePaul's Salon De Thé is simply devine. Add to that the new upscale Silver concept. In fact, Silver is about the only place downtown that the Au Pair doesn't complain about when we send her to pick up our dinner. They have a really great system in place for takeaway.
ReplyDeleteTo think that all used to be an unsightly parking lot full of vulgar Mercedes Benzes, Chryslers and Audis. Kudos are due to the developers.
Paul's and Silver? Pretty middlebrow.

ReplyDelete@8:23 Oh my. My face is as red as my yoga mat. Thanks for the correction. I have no excuse.
ReplyDeleteI guess this is as close as we'll get to Dyer saying "hey, sometimes this county does some pretty impressive stuff."
ReplyDeleteI guess Dyer won't mention that he slept through both the opening of the garage and the re-opening of Woodmont Avenue.
ReplyDelete8:42: I won't because I didn't. You, on the other hand, slept through the closure of both Bruce Variety locations and so many, many other stories.

ReplyDeleteRobert Dyer does not actually live in Bethesda.
