R. Riveter, a retailer of handmade, made-in-the-U.S.A. handbags will open next month at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. The company started as a small venture by two military spouses, and grew into a company that provides other military spouses with a portable career that can relocate with them from one base to another.
Along the way, a Kickstarter campaign - and a partnership with Mark Cuban that resulted from a Shark Tank appearance - helped the partners scale up the business. The Rosie-the-Riveter-inspired boutique will be on Level Two at the mall.
Meanwhile, the delayed closure of the Apple Store at the mall is now scheduled to begin this Sunday, July 17. The store will be updated and expanded during the temporary closure.
Finally, there's another departure at the mall to report. As Kindred Spirits has cleared out only eleven months after opening.

Did you know...
The highest concentration of shopping malls can be found in New Jersey.
The Sherman Oaks Galleria, featured in Fast Times At Ridgemont High was demolished and replaced by an open-air shopping center between 1999 and 2002.
The Dixie Square Mall in Harvey, Illinois, was already closed at the time The Blues Brothers was filmed in 1979, and was finally demolished in 2012.
Good concept. Military spouses.
I wish them well.
"The delayed closure is scheduled to begin" makes zero sense birdbrain
It had been delayed, now scheduled to begin.
How do you not understand that?
@ 1:59 PM raises a valid question.
What Dyer wrote:
"Meanwhile, the delayed closure of the Apple Store at the mall is now scheduled to begin this Sunday, July 17. The store will be updated and expanded during the temporary closure."
A better writer would have written this instead:
"The Apple Store at the mall will close temporarily for renovation and expansion, starting this Sunday, July 17."
99% of the people reading this don't care that the renovation, which had been scheduled previously for May, was delayed. All they care about is whether the store will be open or not. They also would like to know how soon the store is expected to reopen - information which Dyer didn't bother to provide. "Temporary"? Who knows.
3:23pm please STFU. What exactly are your writing credentials?
People need to know the store is closed... exactly the info here. Dyer will report when it's open again.
Break news and follow the story.. That's journalism 101... Exactly what Dyer is doing.
And once again he screams "STFU!" then immediately thereafter demands an answer to his question.

4:59pm And I got you to respond within a half hour.
Your inner pain is intense.
@ 5:45 PM - Says the guy who cries every time anyone says anything critical about his hero Robert Dyer.
"And I got you to respond within a half hour."
You can't even do basic arithmetic.

6:33 & 6:59 PM... got ya to respond again. Admit it...Robert Dyer is in your head.
9:23: Plenty of other malls have been built since then, in southern California and even in the Bronx.
3:23: "Robert Dyer scooped me (or my favorite magazine/mini-websiite depending on who I the anonymous troll am) on 3 stories in one article. What irrelevant criticism can I post in the comments, even if it makes me sound like an idiot and a mental case?"
Hold up a minute here. 4:59PM you are incorrect. *I* was the one you were chastising last week for writing STFU then asking a question. If you remember, it was a rhetorical question. You owe 4:21 an apology.
