The Front Row at Bethesda Row Fashion Show 2015 (Photos)
Threatening skies didn't stop the annual Front Row at Bethesda Row Fashion Show under the tent on Bethesda Lane last night. Models wore the latest (and future) styles available from retailers around the Row, such as Bonobos and Sassanova. Georgetown Cupcake founders Katherine Kallinis Berman and Sophie Kallinis LaMontagne served as hosts, joining the list of style mavens on hand at the Federal Realty development Friday. Among them were Drybar founder Alli Webb and Donna Karan New York PR guru Aliza Licht, who appeared earlier in the day to sign autographs.
Speaking of Georgetown Cupcake, the popular bakery had a Front Row custom cupcake it was giving away Friday.
Let's take a look at some of the styles on the runway last night:

New crosswalk on Bethesda Avenue (Photos)
Heads up: Drivers and pedestrians should be aware of the new crosswalk being put into place on Bethesda Avenue at Woodmont Avenue, at the Barnes and Noble plaza. For the last couple of years, pedestrians and trail users have been making a crossing further down the block by the Capital Crescent Trail. That was necessary due to the sidewalk closure on the southern side of Bethesda Avenue at the Lot 31 construction site.
Now that the Flats at Bethesda Avenue apartments and retail are near completion, a new crosswalk has been painted across the road. So if you are, for example, turning right from southbound Woodmont, be aware that you'll have to ready to stop sooner than you may be used to.
Pitzze space up for lease in Bethesda
The restaurant space recently vacated by Pitzze at 7135 - 7137 Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Bethesda is now officially on the market. Bernstein Management is offering the building for lease, and the rate is negotiable, according to a listing on LoopNet. The space is 1872 SF in size, and is next door to the new Robert Wiedmaier venture, Villain & Saint.
Interestingly, the photo used in the listing dates back to the space's previous tenant, Haven Pizzeria. Probably not the most charmed spot if you are planning to open a pizza parlor, I suppose.

Statue of Liberty on Cordell Avenue? (Photos)
Work has begun on the interior at 4848 Cordell Avenue, and on the mural along the exterior wall. An early rendering of that public art piece shown by the architecture firm behind the redesign, Steven J. Karr, AIA, Inc., featured a Stature of Liberty element.
I noticed yesterday that you can see sketch elements of the statue's iconic crown in the upper right of the wall now, suggesting that the original design may well be going onto the facade.
Meanwhile, window coverings over the newly-installed glass facade of the former homeless shelter suggests interior work is beginning. The space is being created with a potential restaurant tenant in mind for owner Greenhill Capital.
